1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Precisely to work on sw like Revit 2013, AutoCAD 2012, CS4, 3DS Max, Rihno & Grasshopper. Basically BIM and NURBS based modelling softwares. Sole purpose is to smoothly run all of these applications sometimes multitasking. Not for gaming at all.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.

Ans: 35K max. Dont want to stretch it beyond. may be 5k more if it is helping substantially.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Yes

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7 or 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1 TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: Yes but that is not included in this pack. I will buy it second hand. Please suggest which monitor will go with my requirement.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Mouse, keyboard, ups & speakers.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within a week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: will be done by assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:I will buy it from Nehru place, Delhi.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I would like an I7 machine, some ppl are saying that 4th gen cpu have also been launched. I dont know much, would like you to suggest something better for my need. Thanks.

For your needs, FX 8350 is the best processor. It performs quite close to an i7 but costs just half.

FX 8350 (12500)
Asus M5A97 R2.0 (7100)
G.Skill ripjawsX 1600 MHz 4 GB x2 (5000)
WD blue 500 GB (3100)
Powercolor HD7750 (6500)
Seasonic S12II 430W (3600)
NZXT gamma (2500)

total: ~40k

You'll need a graphic card as FX 8350 does not have integrated graphic processor. Additionally, the softwares you've mentioned all use GPU acceleration adn inclusion of an graphic card will boost the opengl performance substantially.

Yes i know that i7 will cost much more and i think i can arrange more funds to build a rig with i7 cpu. Please suggest me a config with i7. Also suggest me a compatible & less expansive mobo cuz i would only need a GPU (Nvidia quadro, not included in the budget right now) as extra addition may be an year down the line, but not immediately.Thanks.

i want to settle between 45-50k.

About i7. I had a conversation with a 3d modelling and revit expert in my office. He told me that FX is a very good processor but sw like revit, rihno and 3d max would run much better on i7 so he suggested me if can stretch the budget and buy i7 it will be a plus for long run. Also after this machine i dont plan to spend on desktop for next 5 years. Thats why i am keen on intel i

BTW, I also suggest to add an nVidia card with your configuration which will help you in rendering works. 3ds Max iRay, Vray RT and Octane, all support GPU acceleration.

Is it ok to buy the processor and mobo in a combo deal from newegg.com ?? here is the link: check 2nd in the last row.

well it doesnt always show that particular combo at one spot..basically its 399.99 $ for both.

^ thats the us price. Newegg doesn't deliver to India nor the manufacturers offer international warranty. Better buy the products locally so you'll save considerable cash over flipkart
