Hi,
Can counterstrike be played on the net with others in real time?

Also. I believe it is free. Where can I get the CD?

Tell me how to go about it.

And going for the illegal option will mean that you wont be able to play it online on the officla Steam servers.

1.)well yes CS is supposed to be a Mass Online Fps game if u have a Proper broadband Connection to play 8)

2.)Well if u are talking about the Mod Of Cs 1.5 or 1.6 then i suppose u can get it out here *www.soft32.com/download-Counter_Strike-2541-5.html but only if u have the Original Copy of Half life then can u apply this Mod over it and try to Play Cs Over Lan or Internet :)

The rest Of the Version include CS Condition Zero which is a Single Player Version and Has Othert Cs Mods Bundled with it.....Also the Latest Will Be The Counter Strike Source Which comes bundled with Half Life 2 package.....both of these are not free and u have to obviously pay the Green stuff to buy them

3.)These copies are available in most shops (legal as well as illegal).....so just go out there and ask for em.....u can as well try to post ur query in the Bazaar section of digit where u'll find some sellers for this game

Like ctrl_alt_del said, if you're gonna use anything apart from CS1.5, be it CS1.6, CS:CZ or CS:S, which are all based on the 1.6 version, then you need a Steam account and a legal copy of the game to play online unless you want yourself banned from Steam, lose all your legal games and get kicked out of the VAC servers.

Exactly But if u wanna play it over a vast Lan network then there aint no problem.....but eventually the Original copy is recommended if online play is concerned and also timely updates

Yeah, if its a huge LAN network, then its OK, I guess. :D But how many of us have that? :D Plus, isnt the standalone CS so cheap now that literally anyone can afford it? :D

Yup, I agree. I got "Day Of Defeat" for 480/-. Now once I got the game installed, Steam allowed me to download and play CS:1.6, HalfLife, Opposing Force and a few other games from the Valve kitty. Now thats a damn good piece of bargain IMHO.

In the zone
cs can be played on lan very comfortably if u have dedicated friends
else broadband is reqd for a better gaming experience original version needed
also now cs 1.6 is getting abit old if u`re planning to buy then get the source with halflife2 it is worth it if u have the reqd config
