Using XP Pro SP 2. After a compulsive system restore,Window Media Player 10 went corrupt    . I wanted to reinstall it again & again but I think some registry keys are left behind & preventing reinstallation.
Can any one to help me to remove WMP 10 completely from my system to reinstall it again :?: :?: :?:

Genuinity of the OS is unquestionable.

Downloaded latest version after a genuinity check from MS failed to resolve problem.

Please help,help,help

To remove Windows Media Player Completely

Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel

Next when the Add/Remove Programs window is visible, on the left pane you will find somethink that says "Add/Remove Windows Components", click it. A wizard like interface will appear, untick windows Media Player from this list. and follow the instructions there. Windows Media Player will get uninstalled.

Remember that Windows XP may ask you to insert the original CD that was used to install Windows XP on that computer so give it handy.

Once it is uninstalled, install it again from the setup file that you had download from the net or get the setup file from the DIGIT CD/DVD.

Windows Media Player 10
If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installing Windows Media Player 10.

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version, do the following:
1.In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
2.Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10 (in the Windows Updates section), and then click Change/Remove.

You can also use System Restore to roll back to the previous version of the Player. For more information about System Restore, see the Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur page.

Open Regedit.exe and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall

Create a sub-key named Windows Media Player

In the right-pane, create the following REG_SZ values:
DisplayIcon
DisplayName
ParentDisplayName
ParentKeyName
UninstallString

Assign the following data for each value:

DisplayIcon: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
DisplayName: Windows Media Player 10
ParentDisplayName: Windows Updates
ParentKeyName: OperatingSystem
UninstallString: "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Setup_wm.exe" /Uninstall

Go to the add / remove programs in control panel. If you're using XP SP2, you'll see a 'show updates' box at the top of the add / remove programs. Turn it on.
Select "Windows Media Player 10" and click remove it.

After wmp10 removed restart your pc.

To install again you know what to do!
Go here for the latest release of wmp10
