copying IDE hd to SATA hd

Right off the assembly line
can anyone help me for the following problem

i got a new SATA hd and i have copied my old IDE hd to my new sata hd

and the os in IDE hd is windows 2000. the copying was sucessful but i cant boot into the system

source : samsung 80GB ide hard disk

target : seagate 80gb sata hard disk


copied using : Norton Ghost


problem 1:

had blue screen error related to acpi.....

solution :

=copied acpi.sys from an windows xp system to windows 2000
=acpi error was solved.

problem 2:

now blue screen error shows INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

the old motherboard did not support sata..........

but now it is connected to the latest Intel 945GCNL Board......

so its not a problem with the motherboard


SOLUTION NEEDED.............

PLEASE HELP......

u will have to install SATA controller drivers

if u had dun a clean install of the OS den it would have asked you for the drivers. however since you have made an image of the boot drive from a PATA HDD, it is not present

install the controller drivers

can u please elaborate on this .....

i have INtel 945gcnl board....

i could not find sata controller driver for win 2000

even if i find, how to install them

d SATA controler drivers are provided with the HDD

wen doin a clean install of the OS on SATA u will b asked 4 d SATA drivers, just pop in the controller CD/floppy wen asked

AFAIK u will have 2 do a clean install

clean install is out of the issue....

i have a software that needs to work on the old hdd....

so i cant clean install....

any other options......

please help
