hi ppl, am in a soup, got an ipod video 30gigs, but charging time n transfer time takin 2 long. how do i find out wat version my mobo supports? got a p-IV system, & if its usb 1.1, how do i change it to 2.0?
qarch said:In device manager under USB controllers, if there is entry like USB2 root hub, then you have USB2. In my computer Mobo, such is not shown, but I still have USB2. The answer lies in my mobo setup where there is an option that says - enable USB2 when connected to a USB2 device. This option has to be enabled. Else go for a USB2 card - they are very cheap.
sorry matey...... .confused USB 2.0 with SATA2kalpik said:^^ USB 2.0 is 144 mbps, not 3 gbps!
qarch said:janitha - When I connect a USB2 HDD to my PC I get transfer speeds in excess of 8 MBps (not to be confused with Mbps) which is not possible in a USB1.1 device where the max transfer speed will be theoretically ~1.1 MBps (or 12 Mbps). Theoretical maximums are impossible to achieve in the real world. btw my USB2 is in the mobo & not on a PCI card.
Mbps.
Oops! My bad, guess even i was sleepy! 480mbps it is!qarch said:janitha - When I connect a USB2 HDD to my PC I get transfer speeds in excess of 8 MBps (not to be confused with Mbps) which is not possible in a USB1.1 device where the max transfer speed will be theoretically ~1.1 MBps (or 12 Mbps).
