i am using xilisoft video convertor. even on highest setting converting a MKV specially to MPEG2 introduces pixellation in the video.how to convert the MKV files keeping the same quality.

Q.C Passed. Tested. OK
I doubt its the software issue but anyway, if you have the bandwidth, try using MediaCoder. It's one of the best and free converters out there. I use it myself.

i also used vlc inbuilt convertor and choosed MPEG-2+MPGA(TS) as output.the file looks good while on PC but it is just unplayable on the DVD Player.though it plays but it is garbled with blocks and sound stutters.
i also have mediacoder but i don't know the settings because it fails on auto select mode.i will try again with the new vwersion mediacoder.

have you tried the conversion using handbrake or xmedia recode?

i used the handbrake but the pixellation is worse than xilisoft. i tried different mkv file but the same.

i also tried to convert using latest version mediacoder and i get this error;
"the video encoder engine CUDA does not have audio support.please choose ext multiplexer."how do i do that ?

here is my system info;

post the media info of the movie you want to encode also let us know if you dvd player recognize h264/AVC codec. If yes then you just need to change the container using avidemux
select the movie and save it in avi format (in video/audio keep copy)

my dvd player didn't recognize h264/AVC codec. as i said above it only recognises divx,xvid,mpeg1,mpeg2,avi,dat,vob formats only. pixellation occurs mainly in converting mkv files to mpeg2 format.here is the mediainfo of one of the mkv files;

open format factory and under video tab select all to avi
now under output settings select video bitrate and enter value bigger than original file (in this case bigger than 2,228 Kbps)
you can select the audio settings as well but if you are ok with default then its fine

now press ok and encode the file

size will be bigger than original video but you should retain the quality(90% atleast). converting AVC to divx/xvid you should select 20%~30% more then original bitrate to retain the quality (AVD is better codec)

i do have format factory and have converted file (all to mpeg). i will check that file and also will convert again using the settings as said above.please do provide settings for mediacoder also.i also want to try mediacoder.
i will check these files and will reply on monday probably.

i want to add that using vlc convert function,i get no pixellation on PC but when played on DVD player it plays ,then stucks with big blocks.

actually it depends on the codec used within the container

codec - H264,mpeg,mpeg2 etc....
containers - mkv, avi, mp4 etc....

xvid/divx (better than vob commonly used in DVD's) are old codecs and need more bitrate to attain same quality which h264 attains in less size (a new codec h265 is in development which takes half the size of h264 to attain same quality)
so if you select slightly more bitrate while converting from h264 to xvid then you can attain almost same quality

all these s/w use there preset settings so they are not foolproof in any case. If you really want to try then practice on MEGUI and use there DIVX or XVID presets to encode (there are soo many filters available that you cant even test them)

google MEGUI guide before proceeding as there are so many things to learn like scripts,filters etc....

All to AVI as already suggested is a lot different than (all to mpeg) - and should work better as avc and xvid are atleast similar techniques to do compression in principle. Did it work ?

can i achieve the same result using the xilisoft video convertor ;
it has following option in advanced mode while converting to MPG2;
* VIDEO- video size,bitrate,framerate,zoom,aspect ratio,same quality,2pass,encode mode (VBR/CBR)
* AUDIO- audio codec (mp2/AC3) ,sample rate ,bitrate,channel.

one final advice to OP:

you know about YIFY rips on the interwebs?? then you'd know they have high quality rips in amazing small sizes.

those are made using Handbrake.

that should give you an idea about how powerful that s/w is. ;)
