Pretty common trick but I keep iron branches with me for blocking paths during dire time be it to prevent enemy from running away or me fleeing.

To be honest I have tried and failed multiple times to play Dota 2 decently even though I know some friends they are very good at it
From what I have seen it requires some quick and smart thinking to even survive . Its very dependent on the team like CS:GO so communicate well and also try to play the role you are actually good at say support or carry instead of trying to be the best at everything . Though remember this is coming from a total noob in this game so please don't flame me
