Hi!

im using a PC with the present config at the moment:
C2D E6300 Processor
Intel D965RY Motherboard
1GB 667MHz RAM
NVidia 7600GT GFX Card

I want to upgrade my system to a dx10 capable gfx card and upgrade my processor as well.

that link had a gfx comparison...and now im confused....wether a 8800 GTS 320MB will be enuff or shud i go for a 8600GT SLI combination. if so, wich motherboard wud u suggest???(i usually play all the latest FPS games and do like them with all the eye candy on!! ) and also, wich processor shud i probably upgrade too???

ill be buying my parts from chennai, so pls quote price and place where i can get them if possible.

thanx in advance :)

Cant you see in the results itself?? 8600GT SLI stands nowhere near the 8800 320 MB. SLI will be only 2-3K cheaper than the 320MB model and I dont think this price will be anything when compared to the performance that youll get.
Go for 320MB.

I dont know about Chennai but in Delhi it was available for 19K about a month back. Add or Subtract a couple of hundreds, so in chennai it should be available for 20K max. Keep in mind, I am not sure, it might be come for 18K too :p

And your current procc. i.e E6300 is good. There wont be much of a benefit if you upgrade to higher dual core models. It can last for another year and a half. But if you have money in hand then go for Q6600. Quad cores and that too for around 15K (prices will drop certainly), or if you can get from Amrika, then it will come for around 12K max.

And if you really want to upgrade something then invest in memory, as 1GB is not enough for playing games that will come in the future ( in november to be precise :)). Use 2 GB minimum.

Go for dual channel RAM.
It will increase the bandwidth of the system and hence will up the performance.

SO it has to be like this:
You have 1GB RAM module of 667MHz. Get another 1GB module of 667MHz and same timings (Go for same manufacturer too or your mobo will be dead). This will double the system bandwidth.
Now get two 512MB sticks (667MHz) and use them in dual channel mode.

Hope this helps.
