Guys,

I planning to upgrade my ageing PC (AMD 3500+, Nvidia 6600, asus a8n-e, 1GB DDR RAM)

What I would not like to change in the existing setup is

- 2*500 GB HDD's
- 22' Dell Monitor
- 650W APC UPS
- 7.1 Creative Speakers
- DVD Drive, mouse and keyboard
- 802.11 b/g WIFI Card

What I plan to Upgrade

- Mobo
- Processor
- RAM
- Graphics Card (dx11 support)
- PSU
- Cabinet

I have a max budget of 20,000 (+2k ~ extreme). Please suggest a setup that is favorable for gaming, movies & multitasking.

Additional Points
- Mobo should support 7.1 channel audio (or) should i plan for a audio card later ?
- GPU should easily support 1080p resolution and i'm looking for good FPS on gaming
- The room is a non ac room

I'm planning to buy this in the next couple of days.

- Will this be future proof for at least a couple of years ? Whats the price / performance difference between HD 5670/HD 5750/ HD 5770.
- I need 8 channel audio. Suggested mobo supports 6 channel audio. Would you guys recommend a integrated 8 channel audio or a sound card as a later upgrade ?

bro, at your budget you don,t have too many options.... i suggest going with sam,s or jaskanwar's config.... you may opt for an audio card later.... the config would be readily future proof for next 2-3 years depending on the usage.... the config would do heavy multitasking easily but it will not be able to let you play games at their full glory and resolutions....

if your budget lets you, then go for hd 5770.... great vfm card.... else 5670 would suffice.... dont go for 5750 as price diff. b\w it and 5770 is very less....

yes, your budget is a bit low for good FPS full HD gaming. you'll have to play at low to medium settings.
Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 & MSI 785GM-E51 support 7.1 Ch audio & should fit into the budget. This MSI board also has an eSata port. But wait for people's opinion on this board. In the mean time you can look for reviews online

@rahul.007, how much did your motherboard cost? & what's there beside the PS/2 port?

offtopic: How old is your 5230 and how is it performing?

That would be too expensive for the thread starter, but a crossfire board for 6.6k is not a bad deal. It's a good board. I'll think about it when I upgrade next year.

another good alternate is Asrock 785G. it comes with 3 way crossfire. price is around 6k i think. or Biostar TA790GX A3+ @ 5.5k

Actually I think these motherboards will be out of contention by the time I upgrade (next year) because they do not have USB 3.0 which should become common in a year's time. maybe even SATA 6Gbps would be around. Also, who knows what processors (& hence what socket) would be selling then. It's stupid of me to think of anything more than 6 months in advance.

quite rite.... also the present mobos based on 870 and 890gx would be cheaper and more readily available by then....
