Configuration needed for a gaming PC within 30-40K

Hi All,

My friend wants to buy a new gaming PC, his budget is 30-40K. He uses it basically for gaming, movies, and lots off downloading. He wants a C2Q proccy, with ASUS mobo (no onboard graphics card), 4GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia Graphics Card with HDMI support.
Please suggest a intel C2Q configuration with a Nvidia graphics card which has HDMI support, and a gooud ASUS mobo.
He already has a 80GB Sata HDD, i am telling him to get a casing and use it as a External Drive.

I am thinking of suggesting him
Processor : Quad Core Q9400 2.66 GHz
RAM : Corsair DDR2 800MHz (XMS2) 2x2GB sticks

Is this fine, also suggest the other parts.

No one is willing to give a configuration. I can suggest him my configuration, but i feel its a little old.

for GPU, pick HD4870 or GTX 260

I gave AMD config because it easily beat Q8xxx and few Q9xxx processors with ease and since it is black edition, it will be a hell of an overclocker.

But he doesnt want to go for AMD, or ATI Cards. Also he will not be doing any overclocking.

Which is the best card in GTX 260 series, what is its price in Bangalore.

I think in ram instead of going in 800mhz go 4 1066 mhz it only cost 50 more in zion.and psu u can take zebronics 600 w @2800.it works great and in looks also. And instead of 500 gb ask him to take a 1 t.b it will cost him 2100 more so lots of space.in gpu I would suggest u to take xfx gts 250 @ 9100 , as it has the 9800 gtx+ features at less price.i.e 12.5k.so think it.and in moniter just go for samsung '22' 2233@10200,it has the highest resolution from any others.hope this might help u....

What is the difference between GTX260 and GTS250 Cards. I saw in some forum that GTS250 is based on the 9800GTX+ card.

The difference is lot!!!

GTX260 is lot lot more powerful than GTS250 (formerly 9800GTX+) and at the same time, costs double the price of GTS250. For FullHD gaming, it's recommended and is direct competitor to HD4870.
