Hi Guys,

This is my Current config -
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.5ghz
Asus - M2A-VM
Ram - OCZ - 800mhz ddr2 - 4gb
Ati Radeon HD 5450
WD 320 gb hard drive.
Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 300
Psu - Glacialcool - died recently, so currently using intex

It is serving my purpose of 3d modelling but Rendering is slow. I have tried overclocking once but couldn't. Asus software for OC didn't work on my PC (I think the Mobo doesn't have much OC potential). Bios updated from Asus website.
Reading your suggestions on similar threads, it seems AMD FX 8350 will serve me right.
I am willing to wait if prices are expected to fall in the next 2 months, I am willing to increase my budget to Intel i7 if that makes more sense. I am also willing experiment with the current config i.e. - get a new mobo and overclock it - if it can be done.

Waiting for your suggestions :)

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Purpose - 3d Modelling, Rendering. Apps - Maya, VRay, Z brush, Photoshop . No games for the time being.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: upto 30K will be good. Willing to extend to accommodate a better Mobo if recommended.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No. Unless absolutely necessary.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: even 250gb is all right for me. (Already have a WD 320 Gb)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No. I have a Hp 2009 - 20in -1600 x 900 .

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Dont need - keyboard, mouse, monitor, graphics card, hard drive.
Can my Ati Radeon HD 5450 be resued? Will the config fit into cooler master elite 300 cabinet (4 yrs old)?

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: This month end

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: By me.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi. I will prefer buying locally, I can consider purchasing online as a last option.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: 1)I have been using Amds since very long. Heard that Intels serve better in the long run, amd's performance goes down with age?
2) Ram - 8 Gb single or 2x 4Gb sticks? I only need 8 gb for now.
3) PSU - Hope it is isn't too noisy.
4) Mobo - I have had good experience with Asus. Gigabyte will be a 2nd option. MoBo should have the needed USB3, Solid state drive connectivity, Win 8 ready.
5) Do I need a Heat sink, cooler?

Will get these after 2 months -
6) A good graphics card - Ati
7) SSD. Pls recommed which one? Is 128gb enough (win8+Maya+zBrush+Photoshop)? - If i install non-work related programs on the other hard drive.

Thanks a lot!

Incinerator, as per my knowledge, Eco 600 is a stripped down version of S12II 620. It might be a little better in terms of output power.

although not a thorough review, the person posted there is a well known reviewer, not Sumonpathak.

Its a stripped down version. And down graded at a critical part of a PSU, the capacitors in the first place. The ECO 600 use a Chemicon and all Taiwanese Teapo capacitors which are not at all in the same league as the all Japanese Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors in the S12II 520. Another important part as it is mentioned, is the downgraded Bridge Rectifier and PFC switched and Diodes, while the S12II uses the proven GBU806 as the bridge rectifier.I am yet to see the Eco's PCB and soldering or know or actually see the filtering and input stages.I doubt let alone the ECO if anything can match the S12II in terms of ripple and noise at that price point and beyond. For power delivery though the its rated at 520 watts in actuals just looking at the ChemiCons and the rectifier bridge assembly you know we can surely expect a larger untold headroom from the Seasonics 520 by about safely 50 to 70 watts more under 40/45°C.

So my point was Cilus, for just Rs 300 more why not the proven S12II with an unmatched build quality, for the price.

Mobo - I couldn't find any of these motherboards in Nehru Place - cost to cost, computer empire, a couple of more shops. They do have : 1) GIGABYTE 990XA-UD3 2)ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0. 3)Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3, 3) 4)Asus M5A97 r2.0

Can you suggest form where can I get the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0? Or should I wait till it is available? (I cant see them listed by online sellers also)

Ram - Kingston is cl9 but 1333mhz, corsair is cl10 but 1600mhz. So which one of these Rams will be better for me? Does it make much difference?

Thanks! I am planning to get the stuff this week. So any leads will be helpful.

I didnt go to SMC international. I thought since it isn't there at 4 different shops, it seems it isn't there in the market - since all of them make a "phone call" to someone to inquire about the stock :D. Anyway will go to SMC on monday and see.
Yes I am open to buying it online but nobody has it on their website, not even SMC's website. Only mdcomputers.in has listed it but available on pre-order. Don't know how safe per-ordering will be.

What you can do is call up MD and ask them about the Pre Order thing and then place an order. Generally MD is a very safe online retailer.
