Follow these steps,

1. Right click on any Partition name on the display under the Volume tab.
2. Click on "Change Drive Letters and Path".
3. After opening this link, a window will appear with the present Drive letter and options button below to change it.
4. Please select change button and select your needed drive letter.

Done.

Above methods are WRONG

Go to Start->Control Panel->Computer Management->Disk Management System

In that, first right click on C and rename it to Z
Then right click on D and rename it to C
Then right click on Z and rename it to D

If it works and windows does not boot, GOD HELP YOU :)

DONT DO THIS  this can be done only for drives other than the boot partition.. you cant name D as C and vice versa but you can change other logical partitions to IJKLMNOP... etc ;)

you cant change the boot partition.... you can only reinstall windows in the boot partition overwriting your existing OS in the boot partition

off course you can do it...
i have done it numerous times..
You need partition magic 8 to do this...
But there is no 100% guarantee that it might work...it will sometimes corrupt the windows....so it's risky....
wait i will tell the procedures afterwards when i try it myself in my computer...

yes we can...
use partition magic...change the drive letter from there....
it will work
for ex:1 have 2 Xp's and one 98...
but i have made changes so that 2 XP's system drive is C: not D: or E:
and i have made the boot partition drive(98 drive) as F:
the most important fact is it's just changing the drive letter not anything else...so there is no change in boot.ini file..

yes I understand what you say

but the OP wanted to change his boot drive itself :D not just the drive letters...

also read my post again.. I meant just because you change a drive letter to C it doesnt become a boot drive.. and thats what OP wants to do which unfortunately cannot be done :p
