Hi guys,
I had been using Firestarter all these time for setting up my firewall policies in Mandriva (actually, I don't do anything, just installs it and Firestarter does everything it is supposed to do by default). After moving to Kubuntu, I installed Firestarter again and did a port scan at PCFlank. It said that there is one port that isn't secure (though not open). I think it was NetBios. So, I installed Guarddog and enabled some protocols that I think I usually use and left others to be blocked. But, after doing that, I can't sent any mail from Thunderbird. When I click 'sent', it would show status as "Looking up smtp.gmail.com, Connecting to smtp.gmail.com". The progress bar is moving, but nothing happens. I guess it would show error after some timeout. Other applications like Firefox, receiving mail in Thunderbird, Gaim, Google Earth, Konversation, download managers and ftp are wroking fine.
The protocols I have enabled in Guarddog are as follows (listed as shown in Guarddog):
Chat
File Transfer
Interactive Session - None
Mail
Miscellaneous - None
Network
Please help.
