cant install modem on windows xp sp 2. plz help

i have got a motorola sm56 pci fax modem on my system
whenever i try to install its driver a big blue screen appears
which says that windows has been shut down to prevent damage to ur computer..
what shud i do. this driver had worked fine on windows xp original version--- 2001.
plz help me

First check whether The drivers a already installed in Device Manager!

If there is an entry for this modem, remove that!

And finally d/l latest drivers from manufacturer site and try to install that........

well i have installed the latest drivers. have already done all that u suggested.
that hasn t helped.
there must be some solution.
