Cannot read or write RW disk

Hey I'm having strange problem!!
I have LG CDE 8080B 8x4x32 cd drive but since last year i'm not able to read or write rw disk (of any company) .
although my XP cannot support 4x speed for rw disk(only supports 2x)
what is this?????
I have contacted many to solve but non of them is agree to beleive me...

U say..u cannot read/write RW disks..is it that u can use CD-R discs??

TRY this=>
First try cleaning the head of the cd-drive and try again....

Yes ofcourse I can read n write CD-R but CD-RW. !!!!!!!

Well then ur writer does support rewriting.Check whether ur drive is just a writer or a rewriter.U can find it on the front casing of the drive.

no i was writing RW CDS before in ME. but cant with XP my CD drive is
LG CED 8080B 8x4x32

I am having the same problem.I am having a dvd writer,CD writer and a cd reader.Previously all were working alright.A few months back my Samsung CD writer stopped recognising rw disks.Later it stopped recognising cd-r disks as well.Till that time my dvd writer was working alright,But now it is not recognizing
cd rw or dvd rw disks.The problem with my Samsung CD writer could have arised after my kid brother had struck a disk faultily inside it .After much difficulty I could remove the disk.Any body help please.
