Can i use XBox Controller for both PC and Console?

The title itself clerly explains, Can i use XBox Controller for both PC and Console?
I have an XBox Controller for PC, and i am going to buy an XBox w/o controller. That is the reason i am asking this question.

Windows edition just has a driver disc. You will have to DL the latest version from WinUpdate/MS anyway.

^ Yes, it will work. My friend bought an XBOX controller for his PC to play FIFA. Later I got an XBOX, and I can confirm that the controller works on both, pc and XBOX. No drivers are needed either if you are using a Windows PC.

Both are same only driver is different. You need to download & install driver in your PC before you can use it.
