Please... I spend 1/2 hour each night at 8 pm walking through all the floors in the office turning off monitors and speakers that have been left on inadvertently by the users and get down on the floor behind desks over 10 times switching off printers. But some people do have to login during emergencies to share files among themselves (a user may leave a file on the server during the day for another user to get it at night) and that is why my system and the call accounting system remain on.
So I do care about energy. I post a tip of the month to save energy every month on my noticeboard for everyone to read and I too follow that guideline. At 9 pm, I personally walk through all the five floors in our building switching off fans and airconditioning blowers. It is not my responsibility but I do it because I stay in the dorm and I consider the building as my own.
I keep my computer on because it needs to be. My personal system is turned on only when I need it. I hope that resolves your concern, @fun2sh?
Anyway, nice to know that people here do talk about energy. Since we have people like this, I don't believe people who say India has no hope and the citizens are characterless.
Cheers to you fun2sh!!!

whoa!! just noticed, mine is the longest running system. (Unless you count those mandatory restarts. I restarted a few days ago to get rid of a malware by using a software that deletes a locked file on the next boot.)
