Cabinet not turning on

I have an assembled PC at my home. I was out for work and when I came back, mum told me she heard a blasting sound with smell emanating from the desktop PC. When I tried turning on, the CPU wouldn't start. Monitor is ok, it starts up fine. I took the power cord of monitor and used it for Cabinet but still it will not start. Has the PSU blown up?? It's a cheap iBall PSU , i had to buy it due to financial constraints though now im in good condition. I plan on going to the service centre tomorrow.

There are frequent power cuts here n the UPS was on and no electricity while it blasted.

the blasting sound indicates the psu has blow up. better get a good quality psu for the safety and integrity of you whole system.antec bp300p, seasonic ss400bt or antec vp450p.

Went to the service centre, the SMPS is indeed not working. The technician tested it with it a different SMPS and my cpu was working. He was offering me PSUs of 'Intex, Enter" , i said No thanks. So now looking to purchase a good quality SMPS. I have a query that what should be the lowest wattage that I should buy as I see lot of users recommend Corsair cx430 which is 430 watts. Is that sufficient to run a rig mentioned in my signature? Or should I go for higher wattage? Few models are already suggested by rijinpk1. Can I myself uninstall & install SMPS? And the technician took ₹100 just for checking the cabinet.

And are all SMPS of the same size? Will all of them fit into my iBall cabinet because I don't want to be in a situation where I have invested huge money only to find the psu won't fit into the caninet.

Suggested psus will work without any problem.it is plenty for your system. You can install yourself.

it will surely fit, get the CX430
all desktop psu are of same size,
except few models like mini itx cabinets, but it is usually found in offices for low performance works, etc(in india)

Amazon says Shipping is being done by AFL/Fedex ...are afl & fedex same? I didnt knew fedex was present in india. Tracking my shipment online on fedex website

Current CX series is not that great, and Antec VP series is a better performer than the Corsair CX series.
But still CX-430v2 is a good option.

And yes, AFL and Fedex are the same now.

Yes they are different. Don't go for CX430, go for CX430V2.

Don;t knwo about Flipkart but what if some site sells both 430 and 430v2 and didn't list v2 because it went out of stock and some old 430s were still lying around? Even my city the Corsair dealer only has non v2 (identified by the colored box and detailed product code in sticker).

now the hard part....
i have fitted the psu inside the cabinet , no big deal ....
i see a 24-pin connector in the motherboard & the same size plug in the psu , so it seems right to connect the two.

The 12V connector is of 4-pin in the motherboard while that in the smps is of 8 pin :-(

saw it in a youtube video, the 8-pin 12V plug can be divided into two 4-pins ...lets see
