1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:primarily to be used for browsing and Multimedia and HD viewing. Occasional gaming (FPS like COD) and general office work.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 15k for Proc, Mobo & RAM

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I already have a 1TB HDD

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I already have a 19 inch monitor (1440X900 res.). However, I'm looking to upgrade. Please suggest a 20+ inch HD monitor under 10k.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I'm only planning to buy Proc, RAM & Mobo. I'm also looking at buying a monitor as a secondary purchase.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: ASAP, planning to buy over the weekend

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes I will be building it.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai. I will be buying online, preferably Flipkart.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I have chosen the following components, please review if they look okay.

Processor - Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge Processor - I believe the onboard GPU on this one would be sufficient for HD Viewing and occasional
gaming.

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H. I have chosen the new B75 chipset over the H61 because it supports USB 3.0, Sata 3 and Ivy Bridge natively. Now I understand B75 is meant for small businesses however I couldn't find any significant differences between B75 and H77. Please let me know if going with B75 is going to hinder the home user experience in any way.

UNPREDICTABLE
sounds like a great build
but switch that ram to corsair value 1333MHz as i3-2120 does not support 1600MHz ram
as i3-2120 only support 1333MHz ram native

difference between chipsets

Thanks Truegenius. I may upgrade to Ivy Bridge in the future so 1600MHz will come in handy then. In any case, the price difference between Corsair Value & Vengeance isn't that significant.

ivy bridge is only 5-10% better than sandy bridge at same clock (5-10% better ipc)

and probably ivy bridge i3 will not support pcie v3.0

One final check before I order the components. Is B75 okay to go ahead with?

Also, can you please suggest a 20+ inch HD monitor within 10k.

:+1:

you should go for DH67CL

For monitors you may look these :
BENQ G2420 HD @ 10.6k
LG E2290V 21.5 @ 11k
Benq 21.5 inch LED @8.5k
Benq 24 inch LED - GL2450 @ 10.7k

Well B75 is a newer chipset as part of the Ivy Bridge roll out. Has a similar profile to the the Intel DH67BL and is about 1k cheaper.

@OP Get an AMD APU instead. Its IGP is at par with Sandy Bridge's as well as Ivy Bridge's IGP. But you won't have any upgrade paths in the future.

AMD config
AMD Fusion A8 3850: 7.5k
ECS A75F-M: 5k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GB 1600MHz: 1.7k
Monitor: BenQ G2420HD: 10k (Under 10k you can get a 24 incher so i'm recommending a24 incher but if you want a 20 incher then the Dell IN2030M @6k.)
But if you dont want APU then you can go for your config. Its very good as well.

@Utkarsh, thanks for the suggestion but not going with AMD APUs as you rightly pointed out there is no future upgrade path available.
