Dear friends

I am buying a new computer and i need your help in choosing the best.

My dealer has quoted this configuration

Intel D 945 GCCRL motherboard
Pentium D 2.8 Ghz

But i donot like intel instead i love AMD as my old PC is of AMD

I am planning to buy

AMD athlon 64X2 3600+

Please tel me which one is better and for what and also give any other CPU's of AMD if you know in the range of 5000 to 8000 RS

Also a suitable motherboard which has a onboards graphics and supports vista ultimate

please as early as possible

Axnn

Right off the assembly line
Ur rite dude.....AMD is better.....i've seen a lot of Pentium D's crashing or lagging in my college......really inefficeint..... Amd is more power effecient...
I myself have AMD 64x2 3600+, 1GB DDR2 RAM and Asus M2NPV-MX motherboard.....This motherboard is the cheapest in available for AM2 socket and has 128MB of onboard graphics........this was the best configuration available in that time..... but i'd ask u to go for AMD 4200+......if u can invest more that is.......to make ur PC to run Vista comfortably get good amount of RAM.....1 or 2 GB.....

and i'm very satisfied with mine......no problems so far....it still runs as brand new even after 6 months.....

In the range of 5000 to 8000 you will get AMD X2 4200+, or even higher. You should have RAM of atleast 1 GB, if possible go for 2 GB. Let some other member suggest compatible mobo for 4200+ with good onboard graphics.

What your dealer has quoted you is crap. Don't buy that ever. Pentium D are very hot.

Dear friends

I have decided to buy AMD X2 4000

Now its motherboards which i have to decide. I want motherboard which has onboard graphics which can handle aero feature in vista.

Also which brand to go for memory either kigston, dynet or transcend

Asus M2N MX is a gud mobo and is under 4k. It has onboard 6100 GFX which cur run Vista's Aero. But M2N PV MX has 6150 GFX which shud be slightly better, but the mobo is bout 800 bucks more expensive and is hard to find.

So M2N MX is a gud choice.

Go for transcent memory. Gr8 perfomance and qu8ality at affordable price. Next is Kingston Value. But for overclocking, transcent is better.

man ur configuration is okay except for the motherboard...
if u want integrated graphics motherboard then the best available is Asus M2A-VN which is probably available for 4500(check ur local dealer)...its got ati x1250 an is based on amd 690 chipset!
one more thing it is very stable and consumes less power and maintains a low temp.

I think you have mistaken somewhere, You mean AMD 690 G motherboards with ATI X1250 onboard graphics would be Rs 4500 ???? AMD 690G [HDMI]motherbaords should be arround 15000 at present.

if u really want some good performance out of athlon setup go for raid 0
you can go for seagate 80gb x 2 sata2 in raid 0 if budget is constrain hdd with 8mb buffer size

raid 0 offers much better performance than singe hdd
i can tell this because my setup is like this

athlon64 3000+ 939 gigabyte geforce 6150/nforce 430
seagate 80gb x 2 sata2 in raid 0 1gb ddr400
samsung sync 940bw soundblaster audiligy 2 altec lansing mx5021

It is not available on ebay and i don't think it will be right now. I disagree only for the price. If it is for Rs 4500, don't you think it will sell like hot cake? I checked with my contact in US nad he says AMD 690G mobo by MSI is arround USD 375

This is only a value motherboard in AMD 690G and also it is without HDMI card and still Micro ATX. The complete review and specification can be reached here *www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/03/27/review_amd_690g_chipset/

Its equivalent from MSI is here: *www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=783

I am waiting for ATX version of AMD 690G motherboard by MSI, which is due to be released in April. Other variant of this chip are supposed to be feature rich & superior. The 690G has some intriguing features, such as built-in HDMI with HDCP support, while the 690V is a more basic integrated graphics core.
