buying a new pc for sound recording!!!!

i wanna buy a new pc mainly for recordings and karaoke ....giving below my specific requirements...hope anyone cn help me out....

A:mainly for the purpose of sound recording(read karaoke recording)

A:windows XP,vista or 7 whichever suits my prupose

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)

A: most importantly i need a v good sound card which supports stereo mix and and Microphone together(i.e in the recording tab it has mute instead of select option/or the what you hear option as in creative's sound card.) I am willing to buy added sound card instead of just the onboard sound card

I can't tell you much but your PC should have a good CPU, 4 GB of ram is enough. Try and get an external soundcard from M Audio or Edirol. Also try investing in a Shure SM 57 mic or a Sennheiser mic.

yes. its around 15k but do note that few have reported problems related to drivers of many M-Audio products on Windows 7 due to Avid being slow in developing drivers for their audio cards. XP has no issues though.
