punters, wanted to share about an offer on one software, but could find no suitable thread/section.

evernote has been offering 50% off offer to upgrade to evernote premium for its basic users this month. usual price is 1500/yr, or 190/Mo. under offer it'll be 750/- for THIS YEAR (from the date offer is availed to the next date when subscription is to be renewed). it would've been better had it been lifetime. :D

but anyway, i may be going to avail this as i use evernote quite heavily. and to use it beyond 2 devices, its asking me to upgrade. hence the thought.

its closest and biggest competitor is MS OneNote. its very similar to that and both have almost similar functions and utility. you create a notebook, then stacks in it, and within stacks you create multiple notes. its biggest drawback is (like OneNote), you dont have subnotebooks or subnotes, as in, a tree-structure format. thats why i will also be using one of the tree-structure based softwares soon after trying out a couple of them. simultaneously will keep using EN too.

Re: Anybody interested in Internet Download Manager bulk purchase

I am curious to what are the practical scenarios of a note application such as EverNote. I have a basic note taking app on my Android phone. Where I jot down any notes which I use.

Apart from that I create Excel and word documents to write anything. I am wondering what could be scenarios practically, that one can even pay for it?!

in this instance, its purely, necessity is the mother for payment.

i need to use EN on multiple devices, for which a premium subscription is reqd. hence will have to pay. fortunately we've an offer now.

regards utility, you'll have to simply gauge your use and then determine if you need more functions. some features that I require are, cloud-storage and thus auto-sync of notes across devices, good formatting options in notes, tags-creation, strong search functionality. if your use is just usual daily notes-taking, there're umpteen free options, OneNote and Evernote basic being two of them. else, google keep and several more are also good. but some sort of sync-functionality is an absolute must for me! by now you must've realised that i do more than just taking/making simple day-to-day notes. ;)

Of course I realized that you do more than just taking/making simple day to day notes. I was expecting an insight as to how exactly?

umm, i keep devising new ways of doing that. the time i began doing it some 6-7 yrs back, i used to save whole webpages in categorywise-made folders. then moved to these note-taking softwares, starting from allmynotesorganizer. i make/keep notes/links/references on a variety of and whole gamut of topics/subjects (which keep getting added or pruned; info and subjects are like, limitless!), and keep adding on to them whenever have time (and mood or drive). i make sure to do this categorywise ALWAYS rather than randomly (many times, have to cross-save notes across mutliple categories, as well as save some notes in categories according to relevance/association, rather than being rigid on where to place/save them). i also upload some documents related to these notes on cloud storage drives (because these include pictures as well as text files, even though wares like evernote allow saving pics too). now i have come to the realisation that i cant avoid saving webpages too anymore. so found a (rather expensive) software that lets you make notes as well as save and display webpages too. am looking for more like this (alternatives), esp. having hierarchy (unltd) structure and syncing features. in quite a few notes i use keywords and tags too for quick searching, so this functionality too is important.

hope this answers a bit, and not rather confuses you. :D

Yes I use color note too. Works for my little need of keeping a few notes handy. One can also make a checklist and cross out individual items.
Also it can be synced on cloud, so no worry of loosing the notes.
