Hi guys,

I am planning to buy a new computer in March. I already own a computer and was thinking of converting it into an HTPC. Here is the configuration:

Mobo: Asus K8N-VM
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Clawhammer Core)
RAM: Hynix 512mb DDR400 x2
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80GB PATA
Optical Drive: LG DVD-RAM Drive
SMPS: VIP 400W

If I add in a discreet graphics card, do you think the rest of the PC can handle HD content?? If yes then please suggest a good HTPC card. If not then please suggest the changes that can be made in this config.

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
Ati is known for low power consumption on idle mode and their onboard/ low profile cards are much better options against nvidia. Ati has higher IQ levels and on the real time observation ati scales much better than nvidia. Not that I am saying nvidia 8400gs is crap, considering its for htpc, but you are getting the quality for the same price as well.
