Not needed ... but it should have a sim for 3g

Would prefer international brands like dell and asus which are easy to service. I need a really reliable product as it is for my grandmother. No hassles.
5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
Front facing cam would be good but not necessary. Rare facing would be good too, but front is more important
6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc).

Dell venue is really good for that price.
@OP can wait for a month or so,before christmas sets in. HP is bringing out 8" Tablets with modified hardware.

May be for software,but hardware is above decent and much better.

id still suggest the fonepad instead,it lacks bloat and lag which the Hp and Dell roms come with
hardware is good no doubt but it depends on if you will change the rom etc

Slight change in requirements... Samsung tablet only.. upto 15k( preferred spending around 12k) .. with sim... main usage.... surfing

Which is stuck on JB 4.2, has an older dual core exynos processor, loaded with crapwiz UI and will never receive kitkat or lollipop because its from Samdung.

Dell Venue 8 is still better than it
