Hi,

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Im going to mostly play Dota(Warcraft III) and MMorpgs's. I usually play 2-3 mmorpgs simultaneouly or use VMware to run multiple instances of a game. Also i play like 8-10 hours continuosly(mentioning this since my old laptop used to heat like crazy).Waiting for Age of Wulin and Guild Wars 2 . Also ill be using the system to do little programing (eclipse), watching movies TV show etc. My systems run 24x7 since i always have downloads on.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:+- 25k . Max 30 k

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No. Im not that expert.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Windows 7 64 bit.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:250-500 Gb should be sufficeint. I usually delete content once im through with it.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, 18-21 inch. Depending on how it will fit in budget.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Speakers, CD DVD ROM,

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:This weekend(tomo or day after tomo).

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:Assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:I live in Delhi.Ill buy from nehru place.I can open to buy online if somone can refer me to good sites and i get good prices and same warranty.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: To make things fit in budget first thing i would compromise is on the Monitor. Since im not gonna be playing many high end games ill would like to go with a average graphic card which i can replace few years down the line. Also if 4 GB ram would be sufficient for my needs i could just go with 4 and upgrade later to 8 when i need. Point being my main needs are to be able to run multiple low end games simultaneouly for long hours without overheating or lagging(cant afford lagg in coompetitve/online/pvp gaming),but since my budget is low im willing to compromise somewhere. I would like sumthing that would last me 4-6 years.

Thanx in advance. Hoping to get a quick reply since i plan to buy tomorrow.

Thanx for the response, although can u suggest sumthing with a intel processor? I went with AMD when i bought my gaming laptop 3 years ago for 45000k (HP DV5 1217 AX,AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-74 ,ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics (512MB GDDR2 dedicated memory)
). It heated so much after 20 mins u coudnt even touch the keypad. And after six months it just started crashing eveytime i time i would do anything intensive. First the monitor would go off then the light on the panel go off and then it would turn off and wouldnt restart for 15-20 mins till it cooled off. I coudnt even play counterstrike on it after spending almost 50 k. Its turned me off from both AMD and laptops in general
and is the whole reason im buying a desktop now even though i play simple low end mmorpgs and dota.

Therefore i would really like to go with intel . Plus from my research Intel is much better for gaming than AMD now.

Also , can anyone suggest me where and how much i can sell this peice of #### laptop in delhi? You refer the specs here, only its 17 inch instead of 15.4 as mentioned here HP Pavilion dv5-1217ax Laptop Price, Specs in India - HP DV5 1217ax Notebook Cost .

Thanx for the response, however i would really like to go with intel. I spent 45 k on a AMD gaming laptop 3 years back which burned me both figuratively and literally . It would heat so severe that you literaly coudnt touch the light panel on top of keypad after a few hours. After the six months you coudnt even play counterstrike on it without it turning off in 15 mins. I can only use it now to watch movies(will lag for anything 720p) and surf net etc by reducing the performance setting to low and reducing the max utilization of cpu to 40-50% in power settings. It has turned me off both AMD and laptops in general otherwise i would go for laptop considering i could really use the portablity since i go home on weekends and might be going abroad in a year or 2 and only play low end games like warcraft 3 and mmorpgs albeit for long hours.

Also do i really need a PSU worth 2.5k for a rig with no GPU? Can i not add a average GPU for 4-5 k by going for a cheaper PSU ,Monitor and 250 gb Harddrive??

No, PSU is the most integral part of your system. You can go with the below configuration, but, Intel Pentium g620 for 3k and 6750 for 6k, and some cheaper mobo..

Intel Pentium G620 3.5k
Some mobo 4k
Corsiar 4 GB RAM-1100
WD HDD-3400
Acer S200HL Monitor-6000
Cooler Master Elite 335-1.6k (without psu)
Corsair VS 450-2400
Logitech m/kb bit-650
Hd 6850 8.5 k. Total around 29k. (PS: I don't know if the gpu will get bottlenecked or not)

Processor : Intel® Pentium® Processor G630 - Rs 3300
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2H - Rs 3250
Ram : Corsair Value select 4GB - Rs 1100
HDD :Seagate 500GB - Rs 3400
GPU : MSI R6670-MD1GD3 - Rs 4300
PSU : Antec Basiq BP350 350W / Corsair CX430V2 - Rs 1800/Rs 2500
Cabinet : Cooler Master Elite - Rs 1750

I found this on another thread on this side. I assume theres no considerable difference in g620/g630. Also when i compared the specs of i3 2120 i found not much increase in performance considering it costs twice as much . So it makes sense to me to go with g620/g630 unless ill have to change motherboard when i have upgrade my cpu later to i3/i5.

Also for g630 i should go for 1600 or 1330 ram??
And whats the difference between CM 311 and CM 355??

Also how much performance difference is it between MSI R6670-MD1GD3 and Hd 6850 ?? 8.5k for GPU seems extreme for me since im looking for value for money.

I own a 6850. 6850 is a hundred times better than 6670. Now that your budget allows you to get a gpu, you have a good budget for it. Here you go: Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) vs Radeon HD 6850 – Performance Comparison Benchmarks @ Hardware Compare

P.S. The main reason I suggested a 6850 is cuz it fits in your budget and its a very good card and can run games at high with no lag.
Oh wait, are you gonna play BF3? Or CODMW3? If no, then I don't see any reason for getting a 6850. You can get 8gb ram or upgrade your processor to i3.

"And whats the difference
between CM 311 and CM
355??" Rs.600 price difference.

That Intel rig is good for gaming on a budget and little bit pro work but not great for softwares which benefits from real Quad Cores. And your requirements tend to benefit from Quad Cores (VMware). G630 is not at all great for all that (not recommended for VM users) an i3 with logical cores cant out do that AMD so the next best option in your budget is that AMD with a discreet GPU added later on.Just add a 6670 later on. But if you have better GPU in mind and wanna do more of gaming with less of Quad Core apps then the i3 is better or even a G630 (on a limited budget)

Since you are not going to overclock get a Gigabyte GA-H77-DS3H - Rs 6890 or less. With this mobo you can upgrade to better processors of your choice later on. (i5 or i7) If i3 upgrade is your next target then stick to a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H.

CX- Entry Level ( Bang for the Buck,CWT made Quality components if not enthusiastic)
VS - Asia Specific PSU
VX - EOL

I went to nehru place todayy and got the following estimate -
G630 2790 / i3 2120 -6140
GA B75 MD3H 4300 / GA-H61 M D2H -not available though but price is 3000 Instead of this GA H61 ZE is available for 3390 should i go for it??/G A H77DS3H 6690
500 gb S/WD same price 3143/ Theres a 500GB WD with 60 MB cache for 3450 is it worth it????
4gb Corsair DDR3 1100/ 4GB Corsair DDR3 Vengeance 1290 (it apparently has a heat sink should i go for it??)
CM Elite 310 1700/ Both CM Elite 311 and 355 not available , they have 350 ffor same price but guy said 310 is latest
Corsair VX not available/ Only Corsair Cooler Master 450W for 2400 is it good?
Sapphire ATI 6670 1GBDDR5 5050/ Found GigaByte 6670 2GB DDR3 for 4100 is it good/better/worse?
Cant find 6770 or 6850 only 7*** series
Logitech Mouse / KB 686
Dell 20inch IN2030 5952

My total comes to rs 28677 with 5% VAT. still confused bout motherboard though. Guy says only difference between GA B75 MD3H and GA H61 ZE is 4 ram slots instead of 2 and usb 3 instead of usb 2. I cant see any reason ill need 4 ram slots . Dont care about USB 3 also. So should i go for GA H61 ZE and save 1000 bucks if i forget about upgrading to I3 in future since if and when i upgrade it will be probably better than an I3 ?

Also i wasnt planing on getting a CD Drive. But i realized ill need one to install OS? Is there any other convinient way to install OS??

Also is der any cheaper 20inch monitor option?
