hi, i have a lenovo SL400c laptop with win xp and win 7 installed..
Everything was fine one day i upgraded the BIOS. Then when i boot, either xp or win 7, the "starting windows" screen appears and after that a BSOD flashes and the system restarts... I took it to the dealer he reinstalled xp and win 7 and now everything was working fine..Can anyone guess why the problem arised and is reinstalling is the only way to encounter the problem...

TIA:-?

well, the BSOD problem has an error code which is used to target the problem. It is like this
BCCode: xxxxxx
BCP1: xxxxxx
BCP2: xxxxxx
BCP3: xxxxxx
BCP4: xxxxxx
and is situated in C:\Windows\Minidump\. It depends upon the type of error you are getting. After upgrading Bios, its a common problem. Now u have reinstalled os and all is fine, then you dont need to worry :)

Uhu, Not Gonna Happen!
I have encountered BSOD mostly when I had added an incompatible hardware of faulty drivers.
I had internal TV tuner card initially, then one day when I installed a graphics card too, suddenly I started feeling the aftereffects of conflict between these two cards. I had to remove tv tuner card after which the system became stable...

that graphics card again started giving problems when it became loose (loosely connected on the slot). BSOD surfaced again...

Conclusion is it is mostly because of hardware issues only. In your case, perhaps you had bad drivers for any hardware which got corrected after the re-install. :)

Hi friends, again i get the same BSOD problem....
In starting, it displays something like this...
*****************************************************
"Realtek pci express gigabit ethernet controller series v.2.26 (090219)
PXE E16: Media test failure , check cable
PXE MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.."
*****************************************************
then it shows dual boot option.. when i choose either win xp or win 7, a bsod flashes and the lap restarts..

I dont know what is wrong. i got the same problem earlier and reinstalled xp and win7 but now also the same problem ....please any one help to solve this issue or should i reinstall the os

Try this :- 1. On start up , press Fx(F2/F12/F8) to enter BIOS.
2. Expand the "Drives" section
3. Go to "SATA Operation"
4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"
see if that works !!!
