Right off the assembly line
Hey guys, I am in a dillema.
I have a compaq presario desktop(bought in march 2003) with AMD Athlon XP 2000+ andsome old motherboard(cant remember) and a 40GB 5400 rpm HDD with 16mb onboard graphics and 384mb ddr266 ram.
Let me divide the problem in 2 parts.
1. I want to change my computer. But should I go for an upgrade (processor+MB+HDD+Graphics Card+RAM) or should I rather buy a new branded PC? Which is better in terms of price effectiveness and in terms of reliability? (if branded, do give some suggestions with the specifications.)
My upgrade budget is Rs. 15000-20000, Branded budget is Rs. 45000-47000
I want the PC to be future proof(future as in 2yrs approx), ie. easily upgradeable. Please do mention the motherboard campany and chipset.
2. Is it true that an upgrade is a risky option(the components may not be as reliable as in a branded pc)?
I would be most greatful to you guys if you help me on this problem. I'm waiting for your suggestions guys.
