Right Click on My Computer-> Goto Advanced->Under Startup and recovery click Setting->Under System Startup Click Edit-> A text file named boot.ini will open

In that text file you will see something like this:
Code:
 multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

under or above this their will be similar lines for Vista.
Delete that whole line, save and exit.

That link given by Vimal explains it better.

1.) Boot using XP CD.
2.) Press R when asked to enter into "Recovery Console".
3.) Select Keyboard configuration.
4.) Enter "Administrator" password when asked.
5.) Now enter both commands one by one.

It'll remove new Vista boot loader and u'll direct boot into XP. :)

Vista does not use boot.ini. The boot file is not a boot loader which is located deep inside the vista system. You need the editor for that.

Oh i see vishal already told that.
