Boot hangup

Whenever (70% times) the windows xp flash screen appeared my pc used to hang...after cold shut down and restarting again the same procedure used to repeat... I formatted the whole disk and installed windows xp again... but still this thing continues... I know my system is not sufficient to handle windows xp (233 mhz cyrix processor) but still this never used to happen a few days ago??

There are many possible reasons. The most likely ones are the PSU (SMPS) and the memory. Neither the PSU nor the memory may be actually defective. It could be that the PSU connector or the RAM stick(s) may have become slightly loose.

Pull out the PSU connector and put it in again firmly. Also remove the RAM, clean the contacts by wiping them with cloth, insert it again and see what happens. Before touching anything inside your computer, discharge yourself to avoid possible damage from static electricity.

Check ur SMPS. Dis-assemble ur CPU N re-assemble it. Most probably there must be a problem with ur SMPS.

I observed 1 more thing if i disable my usb port frm bios settings it boots fine

and sometimes even when i use my usb port for some device also then it hangs
