Just purchased a Samsung DVD writer: SATA and not IDE.
Working fine but I am unable to boot from that drive.
Bios detects the DVD RW SATA drive in the disc drives section.
But the drive does not show up in the boot device selection menu.
Another DVD RW IDE drive is available in the boot sequence menu.
Even the USB device is available in the boot menu.
??????

My ASUS mobo has the latest firmware version.
This is my first SATA device.
Is it that you cannot booot from a SATA device??

Please help.

So what do ya do when you you get no response to a que4stion whose answer would be very obvious.

Need more specks.
I thought this was a very generic type of question.

Ok Here are the specks.

Its a AMD FX 2800+
ASUS mobo with some SIS chipset.
256 MB PC333 DDR.
It has 2 IDE and 2 SATA ports.
The bios firmware was very recent and it is the latest now(flashed the bios).

Hey, Dont tell me you need my OS and other software information.

The query is about something which is before the OS boots.

Can I have any answers now?
