BOOT DEVICE problem

i hav Win XP, Petium 4, 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, Seagate 40GB Barracuda Hard Disk....the problem tht m facing is that sometimes when i boot my PC it gives an error:
"Reboot and select proper boot device"
And then the computer stops responding. When i switch on d PC again after a few hours (after hitting the cabinet...due to frustration :twisted: ) d PC boots fine and the error message doesnt come.
This is an occasional problem n inspite of loadin windows several times over n over again...this problem doesnt seem to b rectified...plz help me out n try providing a permanent soultion to it!

I dont think there is any problem with your Windows OS.
Most probably, the data cables or power chords of your Hard drive may be loose.

Open your cabinet, remove these wires, & then plug them properly again.
