Best mid range gaming Ultrabook?

Hi Guys,

Ive been a laptop gamer for quite some time now, my previous laptop i bought was from usa however this time i have no option to buy from there and i need a laptop now urgently as my 5 year old beast finally gave up on me :-(
Im looking for a low/mid gaming ultra book with high requirements for multimedia. For serious gaming, im moving on to ps4.

Key things im looking for:

SSD ( I remember, 5 years back i wanted this option but it was way to expensive)
FULL HD Display
Fast Laptop, no hangs no matter what
Good build quality ( something on par with mac? possible? )
Loud speakers, ( i live in a noisy area)
Light as possible
Good graphic card - not intel hd card.

Size - 14 - 15.6 MAX -

My Budget - Rs. 50-70K. ( Could push slightly more if it worth it)
Im currently using my sisters samsung ultrabook and im fallen in love with the ultrabook concept.

I have the option to buy from here in India or UK. With the pound gone to 100+, i feel India is a cheaper option.

My previous laptop specs:
Notebook: Gateway P-7805u (P Series)
17" WXGA+
Centrino core 2 Duo P8400 - 2.26ghz
4 Gigs DDR3 (1066mhz)
nVidia 9800m GTS
320Gb 7200RPM HDD

Thanks in advance for your time. Would really appreciate some recommendations. Cheers!

The y510p is heavy as hell and by no means an ultrabook. Also it doesn't have a SSD so it WILL hang if you multitask like crazy. If you don't mind the weight then go for it, you can buy an appropriate SSD from onlyssd.com. If you can get a laptop from UK with free shipping(relatives), then forget the y510p and get a custom made laptop from there.

Thanks for your response, Im studying in the UK, got 6 months left. After that i will be working so i would prefer a lighter laptop to move around.

Where can i find custom built laptops in the UK? (reputable brand) Also price point is an issue, my budget 70k = 700 quid, which is not good enough. The same y510p which is here is costing 70k ish, out there its 999 = 1 lack.

Thanks for the onlyssd website.

Lenovo think pad series is good and fits in well as per your budget in India.

Or you can check out dell 15z.

I have a Y500. Now on stock hard drive, if I multi task like crazy, ie, copy 100gb worth of games to hdd+ blueJ+ chrome + league of Legends, even league hangs and. Hdd shows 100% usage.

get you're laptop checked, i can copy 643GBs of data via USB 3 from External HDD to local , play COD Ghost and StarCraft2 in alt-tab sessions and still upload 30 HD photos in Photobucket, without breaking a sweat, even my HDD shows 100%, these did not mean that it would hang.

I have installed a 128gb SSD and. I don't have any lag issues so my laptop is fine. Now. I can copy as much as. I want and the laptop doesn't even slow down no matter what I do.

You have a faster hdd with 7200 RPM. USB 3.0 caps at. 80MBps I think and that would only take half your hdd speed. If you get A SSD then your drive usage will neve r goes to 100%. By hang I mean the 10s delay to open up task manager. 7200Rpm drives are twice as fast as 5400rpm.

Sorry for grammatical errors.... Still figuring out android 4.3 auto type

Edit: @OP I checked it in my PC this time. You can buy the laptop I mentioned earlier @722 pounds.
with core i7 4700mq, 500gb 5400 RPM HDD, no SSD , nvidia GTX 765m.

This laptop will surpass the Y510p in terms of graphical prowess and is equivalent to Alienware 14 @ 1.2 lakh.
You can get a msata SSD later as per your requirement.

Replace that 24gb SSD cache with a full fledged SSD because if you replace the hdd with a SSD then it will become useless.

still i did not feel like having a SSD, as playing games is all about the GPU and bit CPU which in my case are up to the mark, hence the SSD upgrade will be more like an ornamentation of X157.

If you use your laptop for something else other than gaming then you'll want the SSD. Earlier I also thought that a SSD is useless but now well...........fk you hard drive , you are useless. The response timing is now simply amazing.

Edit:- A HDD+SSD combo may not be the best choice as performance of things stored in HDD will naturally slow down the SSD's performance. eg when opening a ppt presentation in the HDD, powerpoint itself will open up instantaneously but the saved filed will take some time(1-3sec under heavy load on HDD) to load.

Im quite skeptical with the hp, people are complaining about manufacturing defects.

I'll buy it from here, seems to be much cheaper then uk. Approx 20k cheaper.

Does anyone know where has dell xps series gone?
