1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Browsing, watching videos, light gaming (mostly old games).

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 15k

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit)

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 250/500 GB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No. I have a monitor (Acer V193HQV, 18.5", res 1366x768)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: PSU (Frontech 450W), Optical drive, UPS.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within a month or two.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Kolkata. Yes, I am buying locally and am open to buying from online shops if I don't get locally.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: No.

Will be glad if someone can help me out. It'll be a secondary pc, primarily to be used by my dad.

ADD a GPU later on.

Edit: Do change that Frontech PSU first, its not advisable to run your PC on that PSU,at all.Your HDD gets affected and the other components too are at great risk. PSU is the most important part of your PC,dont skimp.

Modified rajatGod512's rig a bit.

Processor : AMD A6 3650 - 5.5k
Motherboard : Gigabyte A55M-DS2 - 3.3k
RAM :G.Skill RipjawsX(1600MHz)(F3-12800CL9S) 4GB -1.5k
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB - 3.6k
Cabinet:Any generic cabinet - 1k
Mouse&KB: Amkette Classic Duo Keyboard and Mouse Combo -0.4k
Total=15.3k

A6 3650's IGP is good enough for some decent gaming at that resolution.Higher frequency RAM for better performance of IGP.

Yeah I will be changing the PSU at the earliest, using a Cooler Master 600 Watt for my main PC, just that I don't have the budget immediately.

By the way, can anyone suggest a cheap gfx card to go with the APUs? I'm really liking those builds, especially the one with the A6-3650.

Another question, should I go with 1x4 GB RAM or 4x1 GB RAM? What's the difference?

^^If you want a discrete GPU then atleast buy an hd6670 ddr3 at around 4k to feel considerable difference.A6 3650's IGP(6530D) with 1600MHz RAM is as fast as hd5550 GDDR5.
As far as RAM is concerned pick up a single stick of 4GB RAM.
For single threaded tasks the pentium g630 is faster around 25% but in day to day tasks it is not noticeable. In apps like 7zip and other multi-threaded tasks the a6 is much faster.
If you want usb3.0 ports then go with The Incinerator's config with pentium g630 and Gigabyte GA-B75 D3H.
A75 based motherboards do provide usb3.0 ports for the AMD APU based platform but are pricier and are in the range of 5.5k and above.

Thanks a lot to everybody.
As this will be a secondary pc I'm not going to need USB 3.0, so I've decided to go ahed with this build:

Processor : AMD A6 3650 - 5.5k
Motherboard : Gigabyte A55M-DS2 - 3.3k
RAM :G.Skill RipjawsX(1600MHz)(F3-12800CL9S) 4GB -1.5k
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB - 3.6k
Cabinet: CM Elite 310 - 1.8k
Mouse&KB: Amkette Classic Duo Keyboard and Mouse Combo -0.4k
PSU: Corsair VS450 450 Watt - 2.4k

Total =18.5k

For my budget (alright a bit extended) I think this will be my best bet.

Some changes

Go for Corsair CX430V2 anyday over the VS450. And as VKL has mentioned do get the HD6670 to get the maximum out of that configuration.

i don't think getting any graphics card below 6770 or equivalent is worth it with A series processors.drivers as hybrid crossfire doesn't always work very well and most people only see small gains as well plenty of issues with it whereas going with a full discrete card defeats the purpose of the apu.

An hd6570 is on average around 40-50% faster than an hd5550,let alone an hd6670.I would call that a considerable difference.

Even the trinity a10-5800k's IGP is slower than hd6570,though it can come quite close with high frequency RAM.
Hybrid crossfirex is not something that is that relevant unless the scaling improves for more titles with drivers.
Though the hybrid crossfirex doesn't do well in all titles it does scale well enough in games like f1 2010,sniper elitev2.

Yeah, well since this is a secondary pc I'm not going to add a discrete GPU right away (maybe sometime in the next year- probably the HD6670). The current config should be more than enough for me. And I'll be taking the Corsair CX430V2 instead of the VS450, as suggested by The Incinerator.
Thanks a lot everyone - you guys are amazing :doublethumb:
