Hi
I am having a peculiar problem of late. Both Azureus and VLC player do not open. All I get is the bouncing icon for some time and then nothing.

I tried the following:
1. YaST->delete packages azureus, azureuslib-swt3-gtk2, and vlc
2. Delete the .vlc and .azureus folders form home and roots home
3. Reinstall the above

It did not work.

Terminal output:
neville@linux-ab6m:~> azureus
java virtual machine used: /usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin/java
classpath used: /usr/share/java/Azureus/Azureus3.jar:/usr/share/java/Azureus/swt.jar

flags used:
options used: -Xms16m -Xmx128m -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib64/Azureus:/usr/lib/Azureus
arguments used:

The program '.' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 230 error_code 11 request_code 146 minor_code 5)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Any suggestions?

Try using the old version...0.8.6c. It may work.

Or you can start using Deluge or KTorrent instead of Azureus.

1) What version of Java are you using? And what environment is it set to?

#sudo /usr/bin/update-alternatives --config java [...or /sbin/.]

2) Try changing your GTK theme and icon theme, they also interfere with Azureus.

3) Like it says, run VLC using --sync and get the backtrace and post them here. If its a bug, report the bug at bugzilla.

4) Try downgrading to different versions of the program and see if it works.

And when was the last time they ran normally? What did you do since then? Installed/updated anything?

In my experience, I saw that one version of java led to my Azu to crash repeatedly so try chaging Java or roll back to the old one.
