audio through headphone

My laptop is Compaq Presario C700 with both Windows 7 OS. When I connect an ear phone and play sound files, it will play both on earphone and in-built speaker. How can I make it to play sound on earphone alone?

download & install the proper driver for the sound card from compaq site

compaq had/have problem with its audio driver. But you can their website 7 install latest driver.
