Yeah...I know 6600 GT is more powerfull than 9800 Pro. But there are no proper brands available in Mumbai. You get only XFX here, and I don't belive this brand at all....!! Anybody knows costs of Asus N6600GT/TD?? Also tell me if I can get 9800 Pro in 12,000....and suggest me the brand. Actually I don't know much about Club3D...but people are saying some good things about that!! Does Sapphire import their cards in India??....I asked about original ATI...but nobody is having here in Mumbai..!!
I guess XFX is a good brand. I have always seen them coming out tops in the reviews. They are priced very well and perform well too. I am going to purchase a card next month and have finalised it to be from XFX. Most probably the 6600 or if not then would settle for the 5700. For nVidia based cards XFX, Gainward are very good. Fot ATi based cards Powercolor, MSI are good too. Asus is history now as they are not the performers they used to be. Now there are much better brands like XFX, Gainward, Powercolor, Club3D, etc. Moreover Asus cards are costly too. So I suggest you move away from the Asus.

A PSU that delivers rated 400W like Antec/VIP/Powersafe wud be more than enuf ! Now with hi-end cards this is one extra upgrade that u'd have to make thanks to the crappy PSU's that come with your cabinets !

The 9600Pro does come in the 128mb version, so does the 9600 and the 9600xt, well about the rates for the 128mb versions of the above mentioned cards, I would have to guess they would cost about a 1k lighter each than their 256MB counterpart.

AIW Radeon 9800SE 128MB Ddr --- 11900

is this available in MUMBAI

damn and does it work in INDIA? ?

i guess there are some compatibility issues with formats

man if its just 11k then its a good buy

all the 9800 SE can be modded to 9800 pro

but 6600GT is making the competition intense

Yep no doubt , the 6600GT is an excellent buy, its better than the 9800pro/xt, the XFX 6600GT AGP costs about 14.4k and the PCIe counterpart costs about 14.7k.

However, one card I think is going to blow away the 6600GT, if priced rightly is the ATi x800xl, it even beats the 6800GT in some of the reviews I have read. The card is currently available only in PCIe, but there are chances of the AGP variant being released sometime in Mar-April 05. The card has been released to capture the mid-level market, and capture it will if priced competitively. Infact its suggested MSRP is supposed to be US $100 lower than the 6800GT and the x800Pro. Also there is the plain vanilla X800, which should also be better than the 6600GT and having a suggested MSRP of US $ 199 .
This is how the X800XL and the x800 stack up in the entire X800 Series -
Chip--Pixel Pipelines--Graphics Core--Frequency--Memory Frequency
Radeon X800--12--400 MHz--350 MHz
Radeon X800 Pro--12--475 MHz--450 MHz
Radeon X800 XL--16--400 MHz--500 MHz
Radeon X800 XT--16--500 MHz--500 MHz
Radeon X800 XT PE--16--520 MHz--560 MHz

I was planning on going in for the 6600GT, but I think I'll wait, I'll be getting the rates for the x800 and the X800Xl maybe by the end of this week, I'll keep you folks posted.

just read the review of the X800XL . It performs on par or better with the 6800 GT :

the clinching point is the price which will be 100$ lesser than the GT series. However I dont see how this is gonna be even competitive w.r.t the 6600GT since the pricing starts at around 400$.

and the funny thing is check the price for the 6800GT as well. :

hmmmm...interesting....

And checked the price in froogle as well.

*froogle.google.com/froogle?q=ATi+x800xl&btnG=Search+Froogle&scoring=p

Perhaps the new pricing plan hasnt been released....lets see....

hey krisjr do not buy xfx. instead buy gainward. i bought a gainward 6600gt and it is 2000 bucks less than the xfx version and a much better performer. and never go much for the bundling. my pt. is that for eg if a graphic card manufacturer is bundling doom3 with the card but the card is not able to run it properly then its no point bundling the game with the card plus the card is a poor performer. go for a good perfomance card. gainward has okay okay bundling but surely good perfomance. also someone at the forum advised me too not to buy the xfx version as they are factory overclocked. u also said that digit said gud things abt teh xfx version. but they also said that i tbowed out of the competition. i totally didn't expect that. i think many people here agree with me. u should also consider the city from which u r buying. the 6600gt gainward in delhi is for 13k and the xfx is for 14k. abt ati i think club 3d and hercules are a good brand. but u should ask more people as i don't know much abt ati cards.
BUT REMEMBER DO NOT GO TOO MUCH FOR THE BUNDLING. U CAN ALWAYS BUY THE GAMES RIGHT! BEST OF LUCK
P.S. DO NOT GO FOR ASUS THERE ARE ONLY GOOD MOBO MANUFACTURERS.

Just found out the latest rates for the 6600GT AGP and PCIe (128mb) - the XFX 6600GT both now cost Rs. 12.3k, while the plain jane 6600 costs Rs. 10.5k-11k.

Getting the rates for the x800 and x800xl is turning out to be pretty tough, however one dealer has promised to revert back to my inquiry and give me the rates, lets hope he does.

Also the ATi 9600Pro (128mb AGP) from Gigabyte is now available for as little as 7.2k and the 9550 (128mb AGP) for 4.2k.
