Assistance with selective components for a home PC

look for combo deals on h61/h81 motherboard+intel 3rd/4th gen i5 cpu+DDR3 RAM at your local hardware stores-many hardware retailers at my place are offering complete setups (with monitor+ups etc) based on aforesaid configs within 10-15k. It will be a better deal overall than spending 20k on upgrading an older athlon based build which is unlikely to last very long.

Intel based cpus tend to work well with windows 10 and even 11 (even though cpus older than 8th gen aren't officially supported by win 11)-i am using a similar setup as my daily driver and it runs win 11 and all other productivity apps(including IDEs like vscode, pycharm etc) just fine. Also these peripherals are quite cheap and thus are easily replaceable in case anything malfunctions later.Get 16gb of ram if you are planning on multitasking heavily.

To ensure durability get a branded 450w psu from a reputable manufacturer such as CM/Corsair etc which will help prolong the life of your peripherals significantly .

Just to clarify , mine is a Phenom II cpu and not Athlon..

Let me try enquiring for used PC’s.. Like you said, i would be lucky to get a second hand pc as above with UPS (hoping it has a good functional battery !) .. One other main concern is the hard disk.. not sure if I can expect a SSD as HDD’s might be slow on a windows 10 PC.. Getting a new SSD + PSU would again shoot the overall cost to nearly 25k.. (This is what makes me think that a budget laptop might be better)

What do you think about the dell laptop i mentioned in my previous post.. Is it good enough for 32k.. This way, i have the advantage of portability + don’t need an UPS..

for portability, laptop will be the most sensible choice.

for the intel based setup i mentioned before, only cpu will be used but remaining components can be obtained brand new with warranty (such as mobo, ram etc).It would be essentially a new pc with all new components except the processor.I dont recommend buying any second hand pcs as they may not be reliable.

Should i ask my local PC store that i want a PC with an used CPU alone and brand new other components? Or is it something that is available as a ready made / pre assembled branded kit itself?

Not only for portability, but even performance wise.. i believe the laptop will be better?
There is very limited information about this particular model on dell website (i could not even find the model number..)

Is it possible for me to get an opinion on its configuration in this same thread or should i post it in the laptop section..

visit your local pc stores and mention that you want a new pc with the components i mentioned earlier and they will tell you about what options are available with them.

If you have a higher budget then you may go for the laptop-but i dont have much experience with laptops, especially those based on AMD cpus-therefore you may create a new thread for laptop related suggestions.
