Getting a job as Mod is a very tough job. First you will have to find a forum where there is already an abundance of mods. Since there an extra one won't be mind.

Then you have to prove your worth by posting posts such that your posts reflect both humor and knowledge. It should also have that "Troll" factor, which reflects that you do have knowledge of Internet culture. But it's a dual sided sword. Since you can't please every mod, chances are that you will have to survive their internal debates on posts made by you.

You will need to be vigilant to observe if anyone is breaking the rules, and then report it to existing mods for action. But you also have to take care of not doing any back bench moderating.

Then if by any luck, if you are noticed and you would not have made any grammar errors in your posts (Admin in particular are strict of grammar), then maybe, Just MAYBE you will be considered for a mod.

Then also, you will have to go through many tough examinations and test. (Examination fee is costly for a position of a mod, usually translates to 20 to 30 Seekh Kababs, depending on how many existing mods are there and how many of them are non-vegs).

Then there is a debate round. Each of the candidates including you (yeah, you would be just one among many others, competition you know), will be taken in a conference call. Since they also want to check your voice skills, which is necessary to judge, since communication skills matters even for the position of mods).

Which will be followed by tests like, Writing skills test, Stress test, Emotional Stability test. Believe me, you can't lie in these tests. They have a lie detector machines (Geeks you know. They would leave no stone unturned).

If you survive all those tests, then there will be an HR round by the Admin of the forum. God help you with that.

99.99% of the mods do it as a charity service.
Go to webmaster forums where you can find 'paid to post' jobs, they usually pay $0.02 to $0.20 a post, depending the niche of the forum, you don't find race car owners browsing a knitting forum, or doctors browsing an automobile enthusiast forum.

Thats the most 'stupid' thing I've read, stupid enough to discourage the OP from hunting online jobs.
