buddy, OP is unwilling to spend 9k and you are advising him to spend xtra 500bucks! Mention your choice within 7k

My dad wont allow me to use an expensive phone(and O one is expensive!).
And I dont like spice and micromax etc!

So I guess I will have to forget smartphone :p

I was looking at Cookie fresh and Corby Plus. But you said corby isn't good, is cookie fresh also same?

@Sammy, I will look for a 52xx series' phone if corby & Cookie aren't very good :D

i would never suggest a Corby...yes, compared to nokia 52xx, they have better looks, are slim and looks *modern* but on the software front S60 still has edge over Corby's interface. Nokia wins hands down against Corby, if it were my money, ofcourse! :p

:)) I just checked, Corby is not available in markets :p

When I checked price of Nokia 5233, it was 7 thousand-something. But, now it looks like that actual price is only around 6k. If its so, I will get this only! :clap2:

Thanks everyone :)

did you by any chance, mean *inexpensive* ??? 0_o

Nokia 5233 is well built phone. Good quality. I have used it for a few months. SPB Shell makes it better...

But no Wifi. No Webkit browser. No capacitive screen. No multitouch pinch to zoom. No compass. Old Symbian UI. Very few apps.

Still, I completely agree that Nokia 5233 beats Samsung and Sony dumb phones easily. Camera is decent. Screen is decent. Good feature phone.

Cheers!

then he should change the thread title as it's misleading.

How to do that? :D

Thanks! I have also used my cousin's 5233. It was a nice phone.

Just a last question:
How is huawei Ideos? Although there are very very low chances that I will get it, but its Android 2.2 for 7k. Is it good? :|

EDIT:
@ comp@ddict, (or anyone from delhi), are these phones also available at Chandni Chowk or Karol bagh market? Sorry, but I have never visited these places but heard that such items are available there at a low price. Is it so?

Cheap Huaweo Ideos has QVGA resolution screen... and so does Galaxy POP. Poor resolution phones. Not recommended. A lot of games or apps don't run on them.

Hmmm....

Just asking for knowledge, how to check if resolution is right to run most apps and games? Is it by checking the screen type? :|

My another question is still unanswered!

There are 4 types of resolutions
1. qHD resolution -- Found in very high end phones -- 960x540 pixels
2. WVGA resolution -- Found in high end 20k+ phones -- 800x480 pixels
3. HVGA -- Found in midrange phones (like Ace, Optimus One) -- 320x480 pixels
4. QVGA -- Found is low-range phones. Totally unusable -- 240x320 pixels.

The minimum you should target is HVGA resolution. Anything below that is not worth it in Android phones... A lot of apps and games don't run.. and reading is very difficult, text and pictures are pixelated.

The cheapest HVGA phone (as far as I know) is Spice Mi-310. The next best option in LG Optimus One.

Cheers!

@Nipun buddy, go wid AndroidFan's suggestions if u want android. Its worth getting one, because its leagues ahead of symbian in terms of low range phones. If u arent very much into tech and dont want to get ur hands dirty wid mods/hacks/rooting then go for any symbian based phone like 5230/5233. Android has limitless possibilities but u must also make an effort to understand it.

For normal needs like music, cam, msg, calls, gprs, simple docs go for the symbians.

Else convince ur dad to get android, even if it has to be spice :p U will learn a lot with android, especially if u are in IT field
Whatever it is,let us know what u get :)
Cheers

I was going with his suggestions, but my dad refused :p :p
Now I will see if I can convince my dad to get Spice's Mi 310.... :D
If not that, then 5230/5233 ;)

"especially if you are in IT field"
