I need some free software for burning the discs, creating audio and video cds, boot-up disks etc. Suggest me some good alternative applications that are free also.

1. CDBurnerXP : CDBurnerXP: Downloads

2. DeepBurner : DeepBurner - Powerful CD and DVD Burning Package

3. ImgBurn : The Official ImgBurn Website

There are many more, but these are top contenders.

Ashampoo Free Burning Studio works for me. Best alternative for Nero I have found so far. Have used many other programs also but nothing like it.

For the linux lovers who burn distros on DVDs often, ImgBurn is the best.

Infra Recorder is also an option to be considered.

I am using Ashampoo burning Studio 9 as well as imgburn apart from Nero 7 OEM. I am well satisfied with Ashampoo burning studio - but let me say that Imgburn is a very strong software which gives very good/reliable burning results.

Imgburn and infra recorder available in portable format. No need to install. I prefer it that way.
