Adobe Opens the FLV and SWF Formats

what does this actually means? How it is advantageous to me?
Somebody care to explain.

IMO It means that the specifications of those files (which were not available to everybody earlier) are now open and so it will lead to more interoperability for applications that make use of those formats!

It DOES NOT means that the formats are open-sourced
