When you install Windows XP it asks for the password for a default account name Administrator which it sets up. If it skipped this step (sometimes it does) then you can use the password for the default user account you made. To be sure the Administrator account is there or not -

Go to Start Menu >> Run and type compmgmt.msc

Click on Local Users and Groups and maximise it

Select Users and see if Administrator is listed

If it is listed right click on it and select Set Password

If it is not listed create an account with the name Administrator and description Built-in account for administering the computer/domain. The user should have Administrator as group.

To change Administrator password for Win Xp SP2.

For a win admin password change this is the method to change. But 4 ur prob.. it has to b a no password...

1. The logon.scr trick...
In the Windows/system32 folder, copy the logon.scr & cmd.exe files to another place, say a new folder by the name of temp. Rename the original cmd.exe to logon.scr and restart the rig.
Cmd.exe'll b started instead of the regular logon screen.
Here change administrator password using net user <administratorname> <newpassword>
Copy/replace the original copies of logon.scr & cmd.exe in temp directory to system32.
Everything back to normal... restart & use the new password u gave :D

2.
To start afresh instead of changin the password... goin to Windows/system32 via dos or a live cd... & deleting the password files there... SAM and SECURITY... 'll do. :D
