a 50k pc conf needed

clavin123

Right off the assembly line
need to buy a 50k pc. the following are my requirement. hope someone would help.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: office work. medium amount of gaming(not a hardcore gamer but a medium one). since my priorities keep changing i would like the pc conf more concentrated on performance (not related to gpu performance)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 50k . 5k more or less

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: not really

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: minimum 500gb (with good copying speed ) not really looking for ssd
but do tell me what difference would the ssd make.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: no

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: dont wana buy speakers, ups

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: asap

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: guwahati, i might buy from online shops. or even from delhi

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: would like you to recommed a medium graphics card. also provide an alternative for low end one. would like the pc to have great performance
also would like 1666mhz ram to be supported(looking for i7 or i5 2600/2600k series).
Also if possible can anyone recomed an all-in-one desktop with near to similars specs given above. budget -70k(for all in one)

I don't think you'll need an OC'able processor or 1666MHz RAM for office work and casual gaming. The above configuration will be fine for you.

if performance is your main concern then intel is the only option.also 4gb ram is more than enough for your needs.no need to concern yourself with 1600 or above ram because officially present core i sandybridge generation supports ram upto 1333.any higher will automatically downclock to run at 1333 speed.as of now 1600 or above ram is only recommended for amd A series processors because their integrated gpu performance depends on ram speed or if you want to run 1600 ram at 1333 with tighter timings.

^^ That's true only for Non K series and H67?H61 motherboard. In P67 and Z68 and with K series CPu, you can increase the Ram Multiplier to run it at 1600 Mhz or higher speed. Its same like AMD AM3 CPUs, native support is only 1333 MHz but based on motherboard you can use higher speed memory modules.

technically i am not wrong even though i forgot about the memory multiplier settings of p67/z68 mobos.(posting i7 link since i found it on an already open site) :)
Processors — Frequently asked questions
The Intel® Core™ i7-3xxx processor series support four channels of DDR3 memory with a maximum frequency of 1600 MHz. The Intel® Core™ i7-8xx processor series and Intel® Core™ i7-2xxx processor series support three channels of DDR3 memory with a maximum frequency of 1333 MHz.

also i am not a gamer but from the benchmarks there seems to be only a minor performance gain while using ram above 1333.
Exploring the impact of memory speed on Sandy Bridge performance - The Tech Report - Page 3
also some very enthusiastic persons did very detailed tests here to find any performance gain using faster ram in areas like stuttering using statistical methods & what not!!anyway the conclusion was that there is no significant/noticeable difference when using ram above 1333.

^^ Buddy, I never said that using a 1600 MHZ ram will provide you a significant performance boost. I was communicating that it is possible to use 1600 MHz or higher frequency ram with Intel Sandybridge K series + Z68/P67 motherboard.

@cilus,looks like i misunderstood.my point was that since 1333 ram is widely available & cheaper too so there is no need to think about getting 1600 ram as performance gain is not worth the extra cost even if it can be used using memory multiplier setting of p67/z68 mobo+"k" edition processor.
