CAn you check if the laptop hdd inteface is SATA or PATA? you will need to open the case.

I dont know the drive doesnt mention anything on it.....how do you recognize a sata or pata?

Check the pins of hdd, if it have pins then it is pata, or if it have interface like sata desktop then its sata
