1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Purposes:
1. Moderate Gaming (Games like BF4, Crysis 3)
2. A little bit of Photoshop, Illustrator
3. Watching HD Movies
4. Office 2013

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs 40k.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not really.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Already have a hard drive.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No, I already have a monitor. Size: 21.5 inch, Resolution : 1920 x 1080

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I plan on re-using these parts: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Hard disk drive. (Might upgrade the HDD later as currently it is a 500GB 5400rpm one)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within a month.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I'll build it.

Ans: Kolkata. I'm open to buying stuff both locally as well as from online shops.

You can get Core i5 4440 @ 12.5K and use the rest of the money to get a R7 265 as suggested.

I just read the review of the R7 265 and I now realize that is going to be a much better option.

So after these suggestions, my build goes like this:

Intel Core i5 4570 : 14000,
SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R7 265 2GB GDDR5 : 12500,
Antec VP450P : 2600,
Gigabyte B85M-D3H : 5500,
Corsair Vengeance 4 GB 1600 MHz : 2600,
Cabinet : 3500 (Corsair Carbide SPEC series or a Circle series, not sure)
TOTAL : 40,000 - 41,000.

I have two Questions:

1.Will the PSU be good enough?
2. Should I spend 1-2k extra on the motherboard? Will only do this if I get much better value for money.

The motherboard is fine, go with it. For Cabinet, stick with Corsair, no point of getting a local cabinet. PSU is okay but if you want then spend 1K more and get the Antec VP550 @ 3.6K.

Just go with this Config:

Thank you all for your suggestions. Really appreciated. :)
That should be pretty much what I'll buy then.

I got one more question. Which is the better B85 motherboard: Gigabyte B85M-D3H or Asus B85M-G?

I searched online and found this : "... definitely go with Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H. It is a lot better then Asus B85M-G. It has more power phases as well as VRM heat sinks, PCI slots for any old PCI device and more audio ports as well as more Fan headers(3 vs 1). "
No idea what that means though.

However, I compared the specs of the two and found these differences:

The Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H has 9 USB slots, 2x SATA3 (more SATA2 though), 1 x PCIe 2.0 x4
The Asus B85M-G has 12 USB slots, 4x SATA3, no PCIe 2.0 x4

Yet they say that the gigabyte one is better. I'm confused.

Get the Gigabyte one. It has two SATA III connectors which can accommodate 4 SATA III 6 Gbps Device and for normal usage, it is more than enough.

Gigabyte New Arrival Motherboard! (GA-B85M-D3H)

Can you tell me where I can find the R9 270 for Rs 13,500 ? The cheapest I could find online was at Flipkart (Rs 14,250 - 15,000)
