Suggestions - Which speaker set to buy within 5K.

I want to purchase some speakers for my desktop. Can you please suggest which are the best ones in a budget of 5K?

Altec lansing VS3251..for 5.1. if u want 2.1 then theres one model from JBL.

Just to inform u guys, if u r in to music then u should go for 2.1 speakers cos there r few songs which are made to play with 5 channels.
But if u r in to movies and gaming then head for 5.1 systems.
Just another thought if u cud extend ur budget then go for a basic sound card(like Creative soundblaster) and then buy a nice Altec Lansing or Creative, cos they are best in this range.

guys i m goin 4 the logitech x540 spks..... 2 watch movies using my philips dvd player...
in full 5.1 mode...surround....
but the prob is,,, my dvd player has 6 points of output.....
1. front left
2. front right
3. rear left
4. rear right
5. center spk
6. sub-woofer

and when i check out the x540, it has just 2 points of input.....(the regular, red adn white cord)
so will t play my movies from my dvd player in full surround mode.... or would i have 2 use the matrix mode....
also wanted 2 know, the connector kit that comes with the spks....has 2 b connected in center spk... cable,,,so can i get similar kind of jacks.... for the front and rear spks....and connect them 2 acc....in rear and front....spks......for full sound...

FOA, Nice choice with the speakers.
See, u can use RCA cables for front left and right connections. Same can be done for rear speakers and Center speakers using the 3.5mm to RCA adapter, that comes with the package. Also called as Splitter Audio Cable for component hook ups!

Donno about the connectors but X540 has great sound. Don't think again and go for it!

You can use RCA converters

1) Front (white) to 2 RCA for DVD player
2) Read (black) to 2 RCA for DVD player
3) Sub/center (orange) to DVD players center.

btw, what is the model number of your DVD player??

Do not even thing of Creative Inspire series. They are nothing before X-540's and altec lansing's surround sets.

Just like Front and Rear L+R...there is Center/LFE input & output!
