Need to buy me my first bike! Need quick views.

I have been postponing buying a bike only since years now. Now I have finally decided to buy one.

My background:
I am a novice in driving bike. Only practiced on my friend's Yamaha FZS v2.0 150 cc bike. I can now drive it change gears fairly well now. I am well built, don't go to gym and don't posses a good height. I could barely reach ground on the Yamaha FZS v2.0 bike.

Requirement:
I don't want to spend a lakh on the bike, since it will be my first bike I don't want to overwhelm myself. Hence I am even willing to buy a 125 cc bike (thinking it's weight maybe less). But I can no more than 150 cc for sure. Mileage is also important.

Choices:
After all the research with my friend I could shortlist following two bikes (based on looks, features and price):
Yamaha SZRR V2.0 150 cc
Hero Glamor FI 125 cc

Here is the price breakdown of the both bikes, in Delhi:
Yamaha SZ RR v2.0, Price: 67,803. On road: 77,134.
Hero Glamour FI (2017), Price: 69548. On road: 78,966.

Now I don't which should I go for, and if I should consider some other bikes too. The price of Hero Glamour FI seems more despite the fact that it's a 125 CC bike. One more thing I want to consider is wheel thickness. The Yamaha FZS v2.0 have thick wheels, which I think provides more stability on roads. Should I consider this factor?

Honda CBF Stunner 125 cc. Well I know it's not one of the most popular bikes in the market but I as a proud owner of this bike for the past 8 years vouch for its reliability. Honda engine lasts long and mileage is excellent (approx 50-55 kms to a litre even after 8 years of heavy usage.) This bike has good balance and seat is comfortable for long distances (200 kms). on road pric delhi Rs. 65,654

Edit : Right now I checked and Stunner model has been discontinued two years back.

P.s Another 125 cc model I can recommend is Honda Shine

Both the bikes are entry level bikes, I am talking in terms of engine, wheels, suspension and features etc. If you are a student and need a bike then get atleast a 150cc bike as it will give you good mileage+the pickup will be better than the options that you have chosen. Don't worry about your built, you can handle a 500cc bike also. The rest depends upon your usage.
If you can afford a car then go for it instead of a bike.

For folks small height, Avenger 150 is a good option but it's not for beginners because of difficult handling.

IMO, Honda Shine is an excellent City bike which will also be very economical and comfortable/easy to ride.

Although, I would recommend buying a 150cc bike.... Preferably Suzuki Gixxer. It's an excellent bike worth every penny. If I hadn't purchased My Street 220, I would have considered it. A bit expensive, yes... But well worth it. Once you get hold of the biking....you will love it.

I will buy car when it's the right time. But right now I want/need a bike. Not sure what makes you think I can handle a 500cc bike, but ok.

Avenger is good but yes difficult handing. It's just weird and wouldn't even match my personality (not a hunk).
I considered Gixxer, but it has a radically different design (not sure if my father would be able to handle it. Yes this would be a family used bike).
I will look into Honda Shine recommendation.

Looked at Honda Shine. It's very plain looking. Guys, this would be my first bike. As much as I don't want to over spend, I don't think I am willing to cut price for a very basic looking bike. If that been the case, I would have gone for Bajaj Discover cause I liked it's design(as well as name ).

If price is factored out, which bike is better among Honda Shine, and the two bikes which I posted in first post??

On mileage front, 125cc will be a better option.
Reason the Glamour you picked is expensive, coz it's FI. I guess you know that. With Glamour carb version, you could save some money. Glamour's tyres aren't puny either, that should be good enough.

Assuming you aren't going for premium 150/160cc bikes, like FZ, Hornet, Gixxer. You have these options in 125-150cc bikes, around 70-80k budget.

Ignitor - Too sporty

Test ride the bikes before finalizing.

Brother if you drive a cycle perfectly then you can handle any bike till 500cc without any issues. Yes it will take some time to get used to but it is easy after the initial days.
Anyways I would still suggest you to get at least a 150cc bike. Check any bike from Bajaj. Whichever you finalize, take test ride before purchasing.

I would go with the Yamaha for the build quality. Second ,I read somewhere Glamour isn't as powerful as other 125cc rivals. Checkout xbhp forums for reviews by owners of the bikes.

Agree on the point to buy atleast a 150 cc bike. I wouldn't want to spend money on something that I would feel inadequate just a few months after I get use to it.
Also agree that Yamaha have good built quality, since I have basically learned driving on Yamaha FZ S Ver2 bike.

Hence so far, only the bike Yamaha SZRR ver 2 seems on par.

If you're young, most likely you will feel you want more after few months of riding. Be it 125 or 150 or even higher capacity bike.
I had been wanting to buy a bike for years and did some research. I was kinda sure I will be buying Discover, after test ride I dropped that idea. So take test ride. In paper, one would seem like that it would fit the bill.

Like Storm said, check xbhp owners experience thread of the bikes you narrow down.

To each it's own. My first ever test drive bike after cycle was my friend's 400cc bike. Except clutch and gear there was nothing new.

Thanks for even confusing me now for suggesting Honda Hornet. Damn thing is sexy.
But I might have to decline it since it's costly and/or will weigh much more than I think it will.

Let me confuse you more by Suggesting Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220. The seat is so low it almost feels like a Toy bike. Ride is like a breeze. Priced approx 1 lakhs.

Other option is United Motors Renegade Commando but for that you'll need to shell almost 2lakhs.

One con which I can see right now is that it doesn't have tubeless tires.

Be more specific of your requirement

• Age
• Height
• Intended usage (e.g. Office/College commute, Highway runs)
• City & Highway percentage usage
• Approximate Daily / Monthly running

My Suggestion :
Just buy an old 150 cc bike (preferably Bajaj as the prices are low for resale) as your current skill level is not even shifting gears properly, so you will no doubt screw the clutch. Apply, practice and obtain the licence first.
Learn to counter steer and do correct braking (necessary). @Nerevarine is absolutely right. Learn technique first and increase your capacity of bike.

Add helmet and protective gear to your budget.

Ride Safe.
