A monitor related problem

I have this annoying problem past few months which Im not able to fix. First of all my pc specs

AMD Athlon II X4 635 (very old I know, will change the whole setup soon)- 5 yr old
MSI 880gma- 5yr old (RMA'd and replaced once)
Sapphire R7 265 2gb - 2 yr old
Corsair 1*8gb 1600- less than 1 yr
CM gx 460W bronze 85+ 3 yr old
BENQ g2255-3 yr old
1*500gb Seagate HDD which is 4-5 yrs old
1*1TB WD HDD which was bought recently (my both OS , windows and ubuntu are on this one)

So what happens is, whenever im working on PC, the monitor goes blank and msg pops up on black screen "No signal detected". Few months ago it used to happen only while gaming, randomly in between and I had to force restart. But these days this is happening even when Im doing simple task like browsing, programming, etc.

Now, 1 thing to notice is, whenever this happens, the keyboard goes unresponsive, the CPU doesnt shut down, it remains in working state but the monitor signal goes out. Also, my Benq have VGA and DVI-D inputs only, no HDMI. So I have to use HDMI to DVI-D or VGA to DVI/HDMI (dont remember which one is that but I added 1 more adapter when using VGA input). I have 2 cables of HDMI to DVI and 1 VGA so Im sure its not the cable issue (Im assuming that its not possible to have all 3 cables in fault).

So what can be the cause of issue? And how to confirm by checking tests on each?? I mean, I was searching for the cause and couldnt find any solid info. Can HDD, RAM, PSU etc cause such issue as well?

PS: I also thought of updating driver once, my current build is 16.something, latest one is 17.21 which I tried updating but the problem ruined the process 2 times already.

Do you have on-board graphics on your motherboard? Most likely 880GMA should have it. If yes, remove your Sapphire R7 and run your system on only on-board graphics for a few days and isolate the issue.

Also just use only the main cable to connect to monitor in place of converters. e.g. DVI - DVI.
Don't know much about overclocking but if your settings allow try under-clocking the CPU/GPU purposely.

Ya, tried running on IGP and its working normally. So looks like GPU is the issue?

If so, thats a whole another problem for me...

Another update. After running the PC successfully on IGP, I reinstalled the GPU. Previously while on IGP, I downloaded the 17.21 catalyst update.

Now my GPU is plugged in and is working via VGA-VGA-DVI adapter setup, installing update right now. So far no blank screen issue, lets see how it goes.

Aaaannnnd its gone again. With GPU plugged in, the system worked normally for like 30 mins or so, I tried updating AMD drivers but it was giving me error , 2 times in a row (after I skip the Radeon Live optional installation). I then started windows update but after 10 mins or so the issue pop up again.

I have no idea now what to do :(

GPU is the issue
RMA it
Even I had the same issue with my 7770
Display goes blank with no signal and then you can't even do anything

Can you explain in detail what actually happened in your case? I want to compare , will make things easier for me.

Like, in my case, sometimes the system boots but no signal on monitor. Sometimes, monitors goes blank while gaming, browsing or any small stuff. And whenever this thing happened while working on PC, the system didnt shut down due to it, but my keyboard goes in un responsive state (num lock keys stays ON, etc).

Also, which monitor you were using?

Update
I opened and cleaned the GPU, reapplied the thermal paste. Previous one was solidified very much, may be it was overheating my GPU which led to the above issue ?

Anyways after setup of the GPU again, I have been running the system past 1 hr now and no issue so far. I hope the overheating was causing this. Dont wanna go RMA

Side question
My GPU have 2 fans (Sapphire DualX) and when I installed AMD Overdrive, it showed me 1 fan was runnign at 40 C and other one at 120 C. Which looks very scary coz that temperature isnt good for any electronic device. So I un-installed Overdrive and installed HWmonitor & MSI Afterburner
Now both of them showing temperature 30C but they arent showing me temperature of fan (is it even possible for fan have a temperature reading? ) Both of these utilities show only 1 GPU Fan reading, that is, GPU Fan speed in RPMs

Is it fine?

And its back again.... System worked normally for over 2 hrs but eventually it happened. So its 100% sure GPU issue?
