If the phone is shown in device manager, uninstall its driver from there, remove the device, re insert it after a system restart

If internal memory is full then get a file explorer app and move the pics and video of whatsapp or shareit to SD :)

MTP is a terrible pain in the a
I have similar issues every day with my gadgets
Ive found it works fine with a new install of windows (in dual boot/another partition) at times <--worst case scenario
deleting drivers etc didnt work for me

Try using Sony PC companion...
Tried this option. That Software says there is no phone detected.

Phone doesn't show in device manager. There is exclamation mark beside PCI Controller which I posted in the first post.

I'm not sure with so much technology shelling out 40k on a phone and we can't have this basic feature of being able to connect Phone to PC.

At least your Xperia Z1 is working... My xperia z1 conked out this summer... The SIM slot fails to recognize any SIM... The service centre said that it's water damage or something along those lines even though I had never let even a drop of water near my phone...
So much for being water proof!!!

Exactly!! I hate MTP
I wish companies were more like Blackberry who still gives you the option for regular data transfer or MTP whichever you want
