Hi guys, my friend wants a gaming PC on a budget
initially he (an absolute noob in the tech world) wanted to buy a 22k Lenovo AIO PC because of lesser clutter and thought it could play games and was upgradeable etc
I finally veered him towards Intel Compute stick with a monitor etc(He said he just wanted a barebones cheap system for movies, videos, browsing) until he mentioned gaming later on which is when I suggested him to buy components and build it himself
enough of me typing now , ill get to the point :D

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Games such as GTA V(if possible or even if a future component upgrade could do it its fine),fifa(not a problem on even basic systems I know) ,Need for speed series

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: budget max is 25K, he already has a hdd from his old system

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: NO

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7,he has a copy lying around (his dads company gave him a free copy few years ago :surprised:)

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: He has a 320gb drive,Im guessing its Seagate,if another HDD can be included instead,it would be great as Im not sure if he has a SATA drive or not and hes a noob at this so...

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: A monitor is needed, something reliable like Samsung,Dell,LG only pls
720p-1080p is alright,no hardcore preferences, bigger the better, cheaper the better too :D :p

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: He has an HDD but pls try and include one even a cheap, small one is fine just in case he doesnt have a Sata one

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Before end of next month

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai, mostly we will compare the prices everywhere first, then buy
Online ,Local, buying from assembler, all are possible, cheaper the better

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: pls try and keep the budget as low as possible, even if he can add gpu later,it wouldnt be an issue
he just needs a PC urgently for basic stuff atm but dont compromise much as he cannot spend on major upgrades later on so a good CPU is a must, gpu only if possible, he doesnt mind buying later but if its possible now, well and good

Thanks in advance

Ask him to get a PS3 + Dell S2240L. His budget is for an entry level config.

GTX 960 alone costs ~16-17k and one shouldn't get anything below it if they want to play recent and future games @ FHD resolution.

seriously? GT960?:p :D
I said 720p is fine too

GTX 960
-_-

Even for 720p, he'll need GTX 750 Ti or better which costs ~10k. Add ~8k for monitor, ~4k for HDD, ~2.5k for RAM, ~1k for cabinet. No budget left for other main components.

Go through the configs here:

You must be joking
My laptop with a DDR3 7730M has no issues playing high def games in 720p and 1080p at atleast medium settings.........
there are desktop gddr5 cards for like 7k now such as 7750 which is supposedly 3X better than my 7730m which is based off the 7750 itself with GCN

also I made a mistake,his budget is 35k not 25k my bad

Guys , some bad news here
My friend had a major powow with his dad when he tried to justify the purchase :D :p (We all have been there, done that)
So his dad questioned him about how buying a desktop would be useful for "College Assignments" because we have to carry our own laptops and he already has a laptop(his dads old one actually which barely works at all,its literally namesake and ancient)
So he convinced his dad to buy him a laptop within 35k...(He has no other computer, so a laptop which can "just play barebone grpahic games" is fine
should I make a new thread or is it fine to discuss here?
I suggested G505s(hes getting it locally for 32k) and G50
what are your takes?
remember he doesnt want a monster of a system as such, just something that can handle bare minimum games well

35k laptop for gaming = money wasted.
Don't get anything below 940M (or 840M). No laptops under 40k come with that.

Just ask him to buy a PS3 super slim 12 GB + 3 games bundle for 16-17k, Dell S2240L and add a 1 TB 2.5" laptop hdd in a caddy.

he does need it for purposes other than gaming too
so he cant buy a PS3 especially since he needs it for college
so a laptop is a must

Tell him to forget gaming. Laptops are barely good at gaming and at 35k, its totally no no.
Just tell him to get a cheap netbook (around 20k) for work.
With remaining 15k, get a second hand console and a monitor and enjoy.
